    Really now...

I'm walking through the forest with my bow, hunting badgers why not? I find one and murder the little bugger, and I hear a gunfight not far from me. I go assist my fellow Golden Path buddies in fighting King Min's army, after mutilating the badger with a khukri of course. It's an intense firefight. An eagle swoops down and claws me in the face, and flies away, so I shoot some dope. A wolf suddenly grabs my leg, and I shoot it in the head and shoot some more dope. The gunfight still going on in the background of course. Then I hear "look out, dogs!" and a pack of 4 dogs comes along and somehow manage to devour the 5 soldiers that are left, armed with assault rifles and clearly cognizant of the fact that there are dogs coming to devour them. I start firing my sub-machine gun at them. While I'm doing this, a rhinoceros merrily thumps along and he's pissed as hell. He knocks me down, and the blow simultaneously knocks a truck about 30 feet and knocked another syringe into my chest and shot some dope right into my heart this time. I struggle to my feet and start booking it. An eagle swoops down and claws my eyes out, again, and I shoot some more dope. Rhino knocks me down again of course, and this time finishes me off before the "getting up" animation finishes.

This game has some amazing details to it. It's so incredibly immersive, easily the most immersive game I've played in fact - or it would be...

There are far too many things that break immersion in a ridiculous way. Yes, the above story did happen to me this morning, and things like it happen constantly. It's hilarious the first one or two times, but when this happens almost every place I go, it starts to irritate the hell out of me. I mean, this game has so much going for it, but stuff like this, coupled with things like the rebels just randomly firing their guns into the air, CONSTANTLY, destroys it very, very fast.

Lets say for the sake of argument that some of the rebels are left surviving this mess - which never happens by the way, because rebels are nice and they don't actually WANT to shoot anyone or anything, so they fire around their targets instead of at them. Lets say, they survive - what's the very first thing they're going to do? One of them has a heart attack. Two others start waving their guns around firing them all over the place like lunatics, some of the time firing it horizontally and not even realizing it.

Seriously, why =( If stuff like this were occasional it wouldn't bother me at all, but it seems like most of the fights I get into end with like 5 animal species involved and a mountain of corpses. I really hope stuff like this is considered with Far Cry 5, because this isn't just a minor flaw, it's nearly game destroying.

I'm not against drugs, obviously, but Ajay Ghale has a serious problem.

Looks like I have something to look forward to! I've just started playing this on a new rig - Vista to Win10, quite a jump. Should be fun!

Yeah, don't let my post convince you that it's not fun, though I'm sure you know that by now. This game is just about my favorite game. Really, they did a lot of stuff right in this game, I don't think anything else even comes close to the realism and overall feel of Far Cry 4. I'm taking my sweet time playing through the campaign too, it's almost like I don't want it to end, even then I'm pretty sure I'll be replaying this one.

Enjoy! remember to get your pets spayed or neutered. Kill a few doggies for me!

    Alpha-Methyl:

I'm glad you are enjoying the game, like all of the Far Crys (except Primal), I've replayed them all so many times its embarrassing.

Far Cry 2 is still my favorite though. The immersion varied a bit throughout the game, but when they got it right it was truly hair-raising.

I didn't try Primal, I decided primitive weapons with a bomb dropping drone bird was not going to work. And if the next one has dinosaurs, I'll be avoiding that one too.

Far Cry 3 was really good, but they introduced that stupid tagging system. That combined with the wall hack immediately told me UBISoft decided there was a larger market for less skilled players, those who need their games to be easy in order to enjoy them.

Far Cry 4 seemed hungry to double down on making things easier. The nice thing about FarCry 4 is there are still new maps every day in the map browser. While some are junk, there are some really well though out maps that I can play over and over again.

What I'd like to see is UBISoft announce the remaking of Far Cry 2, with a panel of fans like myself helping the designers recapture what made FC2 so hairy. Add some realistic exterior ballistics, amp up the graphics of course, and they could end up with the best ever.

Don't forget to check out FC4's Map Browser...

You can play Hard difficulty as there is less aggressive animal activity - just don't kick a rhino/tiger/wolf into its bum but the eagles are always a pest.
There is the arena too where you can reach an arena-master rank if you got the balls for it - it takes just a few more hard hours to get there.

.. and, yes, the community maps (map browser) are a nice addition but lately there are a lot of unbalanced maps out there just making "fun" of the gamer due to unreasonable (mass) enemy re-spawn.

Even with it's flawed and lifeless world, Far Cry 2 was the best FPS I've ever played. The 'real time' map was a huge reason, but not the only one. I don't want to see a remake of Far Cry 2, just bring what made Far Cry 2 so good to Far Cry 5.

    Rowdy,

Agreed, a remake would be a mistake, poor choice of words.

Capture the gnarliness of FC2 and create an entirely new story line that leverages it to full effect.

Yes the animals are fn ridiculous. Whenever I see a wolf pack I grenade launch there asses fast! The rebels can't shoot the broad side of a barn at 10'. When animals attack I let the rebels die and take their ****! lol
