    Loot System

After 400+ hours played I quit logging in abut a week ago. I just lost my drive. It kind of took me by surprise because this has been my go to game ever since release. I figured it would pass and I'd be back on after a break but so far no go. I can't even get excited about 1.3 even though I think it has a lot of great changes coming.

For the record I love the gameplay mechanics, I like the missions, I love the DZ and overall I really think they've done a good job with this game even with its bugs. So I couldn't really put my finger in what made me lose interest at first. After a little thought though I realized the issue for me...

    LOOT

More specifically the insane amount of rng that keeps you from fully customizing any particular gear set. I don't mind a little grind but in this game no matter how much you grind you're pretty much going to have to settle for quite a few of your stats that aren't what you want but as close as you can get. On top of that it takes quite a while to put together a decent build. That combined with a very limited stash makes it really hard to do a lot of experimentation. Experimenting with different builds and strategies is what keeps me playing games like this. I guess I just finally got frustrated by that feeling that all my time is being spent getting constant sidegrades along with feeling like I can't fully explore all the different builds and strategies I wanted to pursue because of frustrating rng.

Now to me, the solution lies in opening up more options to fully customize your gear to your exact standards without having to grind for a solid month in the hopes you might get all the stats you're looking for in just one single build.

    Thoughts guys and gals?

There should be gear sets dedicated to specific roles. I like the idea of hybrids, but it's hardly that at all. I like a pure support build, but it's just not needed in this game, which kind of takes some of the RPG out of this rpg.

A combat medic could be awesome in this game, but not with the current HoT that are in place. The boom boxes are underwhelming and pale in comparison to Smart Cover/overdose. This game sadly missed a golden opportunity to make the gameplay more dynamic. We press on, however. You never know what might happen....

I am also a solid experimenter that feels very much hampered by the RNG and storage space in this game. The increase of stash size to 70 while nice is still a joke considering they are adding new weapons and 5 new armor sets.

Even to just keep one 240 piece from each set for each slot we would need 6 x Set Count. That isn't considering that there are different variables we may want on the same piece. There are going to be what ... 13 sets come 1.3? Right there we have a problem as that is 78 slots just to hold those pieces. If we are wearing 6 that leaves 72 in the stash or backpack. Now consider gear mods, weapon mods, and weapons and we will extremely hurting for storage space in no time once again.

I won't even really touch on the RNG as it is crazy. I'd like to have multiple finished builds done sometime after each update and before the next update but the RNG makes that VERY hard.

In much the same boat as the op. I've said quite frequently the loot system hasn't really changed anything. You get more loot sure but it's still all useless junk.

It's been impossible to improve my gear. Seen so many 204 weapons drop but still using the same 182s I've been using for months because all the 204s have been crap. And has been the same with all the 240 set pieces and even 214 set pieces. Hence still using 191 set pieces in some slots.

Getting loot in this game has never been a problem. It's just getting a piece of loot that's remotely usefully thats the problem and it's the impossibility of getting it that has killed my motivation or incentives.

Done falcon lost around 50 times since 1.2 seen over 50 204 weapons get dropped and not one of them has been remotely worth using. So there's really no incentive at all to try and run it again.

Hvts are exactly the same. So much 240 lone star crap when all I want is to upgrade the 191 sentry gloves I'm still using.. so again there's no motivation to try again...

Overall desire to play has been shot because the quality of loot is crap.

I really think this issue should be the number one priority for the dev team.
