Unrealistic Driving Mechanics Ruins The Game

The Crew has a amazing amount of detail in terms of open world map size, vehicles, customization, events and its multiplayer aspect. But like every driving game, the biggest concern is always the actual driving. The Crew has a very "sloppy" way of driving. It almost felt a bit like Need For Speed Rivals here and there. If this game would just take a look at Forza 5 & 6 as well as Gran Turismo 6 and adapt the realistic driving (and graphics now with next gen consoles) that these games have you would have a way higher quality game. I would like to see you guys come out with The Crew 2 with realistic / simulation driving and I bet you would have the top selling racing game for that year hands down.

The Crew is more of an Arcade-Racing game, than Simulation like FM 5/6 or GT6, just like NFS is a Arcade-Raccing game (except for Shift and Shift 2 i think, never have been playing and never will play those two). For that style of racing games, the driving mechanics are fine.

Yes the Crew is closer to NFS than Forza or GT. That being said I do believe The Crew is much better than NFS. I can not stand the driving in NFS it is just to stupid. In the Crew I can at least enjoy driving except when hitting bumps that unrealistically launch the car into unrealistic silly amounts of air. The Crew has fairly descent FFB much better than most Arcade racers. I can feel the tires about to break track be in a corner or braking or accelerating, still it the FFB in the Crew is not up to the standards of Sims. Because of this sims are easier to drive on the edge, and easier to drive fast than arcade games, but again the Crew is better than most arcade games but not up to sim standards.

In the past most all racing games were arcade with lousy graphics and lousy driving physics, now more and more people want realistic graphics and realistic driving dynamics and more and more racing games are becoming more realistic. Arcade will soon will be found only one phone games. As PC and console games go for realism. I think more and more people are asking for cars to look realistic and behave in realistic logical and predictable ways not silly stupid arcade ways that are unpredictable and illogical.

Hopefully the next installment of The Crew will move even more towards sim realism and the cars become more drive-able and further away from arcade.

Until they fix of the horrible object collision (ROCKS) and traffic I do not want the handling being too realistic.

As for people not wanting Arcade racing games anymore, speak for yourself. Games like Burnout, Motorstorm, and The Midway Arcade racers were some of the best gaming experiences of my life and I'm extremely disappointed there is nothing to replace them but phone games. Racing games don't want to do explosions or destruction or aggressive driving anymore and it makes me sad.

i guess its easier to programm tracks instead of a whole open world and its cars and alll the possibillities

i guess also we get a huge update again next year or a brand new THE CREW II or smth like that

Adding realistic physics would fix the object collision so that collisions would happen in a predictable way you would expect a collision to produce. Making the handling more realistic does not mean harder it means cars would behave in ways you would expect them to handle, It means you would have better control over them. Generally speaking Sims are no harder than Arcade games and in fact some sims are easier to drive fast and on the edge of grip.

I can appreciate your fondness for the old arcade games I have a soft spot in my heart for them too. However is you have a modern game with realistic graphics why not realistic physics and driving dynamics?. In real life modern cars are insanely fast and handle insanely well why spoil that? Arcade games as a rule the cars do not handle as well, and they are not as predictable and balanced. In a good car you can feel what is happening you can feel what the tires are doing thus you can really drive them. Arcade games miss out on this, a good sim does not miss this a good sim replicates it.That is why I argue it is time to move on from phony physics to realistic.

this is all well and good but your playing an arcade game, if you want sim there are plenty out there for what you want. most all the changes asked or cried for have broken things in game.

    LEAVE WELL ALONE....

If this game would focus on realism we wouldnt have gotten this Wildrun handling model. Period. The previous one was much more realisticly in terms of corner speeds.

More realism would mean better predictable and so more easy to drive if you know your cars.

Current handling model has been moved towards arcade more lately and not always with success. The improved HC mode does not cover the awkward unpredictable landings, cars on 2 wheels or cars just becoming an uncontrollable projectile.

I do still enjoy the Crew. But it can be a lot better.

Some are afraid for more realism, but IMO it makes the cars better to drive and control.

Crew is no pure Arcade racer like NFS is. It has a lot more refinement. You can call it Simcade, but that does not cover it either.
