I've just looked at my gear and there's only 14.5% crit hit chance rolled into it, according to the character tab so that probably includes the chance on my scope and excludes the 25% on the weapon. The active self preserve talent in the gun and the weapons damage on the mag and crit hit damage on the muzzle are more than enough to keep me alive for long enough to take down purple 32 lmg'ers and a bloody good pop and them double stripe and star elites.
What I have worked out is to get some of that lost chance back is to pray to god I can get hold of a muzzle with built in crit hit chance. But I don't know how my buff will work until I test it out on the field. Because the loss of chance means when the crit does happen it's gonna be a hell of a lot bigger than before with my current set up so that % is staying the same but the health from it is gonna be greater. So instead of a slow steady stream it could be one huge wollop all in one go. A bit like necking a bottle of vodka. It'll hit you pretty damn quick but drinking a bottle over the course of 24 hours doesn't have the same effect.
PS I do not recommend trying this at home.
Anyone that argues that the change to SMGs is not a nerf obviously has no idea how to design a build in this game, crit chance is far, far, far, FAR more important than crit hit damage.
If it wasn't a nerf and this change makes "no difference", than why would they bother to do it...
Whether the nerf is good thing or a bad thing is open for debate, but lets not kid ourselves here, it is absolutely 100% a nerf.
Pratt.... Lets see how much you enjoy the game when everyone has left.Originally Posted by Drake623 Go to original post
This is the thing that I can't get my head around. What's with the gloating about players leaving? It smacks of a short termist mentality and a lack of thought tbh.Originally Posted by silversi Go to original post
If players keep leaving, and the player base keeps dwindling, how long do people think Ubi will keep supporting the game? The sad thing is that I'm guessing a lot of people who have left really wanted to like this game, but due to some of the 'issues', that has been prevented.
As much as I know it's unlikely to happen, a more supportive community might be more useful in these kinds of situations*.
*sits back and waits for the obligatory 'care bear' accusation.
i thought that as well, but it was pointed out that SMgs can still hit 60% cap easily8 and with the extras crit damage will do a truck load. if you can keep pulse up 100% its actually going to be a large increase on current, as now the crit chance on pulse wont be wasted. remember, just because the focus is away from crit chance doesnt mean the gun is totally useless. but hey, lets see what its like when its released.Originally Posted by Eithos Go to original post
but if you wanna cry now and quit, then by all means do so.
Of course the SMG changes are a nerf! lowering the stats of any weapon for balance is still nerfing that item, that being said it does not mean its something that does not need doing for the good of the game.Originally Posted by Erkkisson Go to original post
As far as I am concerned anyone who uses the best go to weapon in a game with competitive PVP game stands the risk of it being nerfed for balance, its just how it is, I would count it lucky it was in game currency, many have spent real money on game items only to find such things happening, Diablo 3 forums were such a fun read at times when the auction house was available.
If you've really speced your character towards crit chance you should have absolutely no problem reaching the cap without the current smg bonus.
21% magazine/barrel/scope
8% fierce
14% mask/gloves
3% (at least) from gear mods
So that's a total of 46% chance with no smg bonus. That leaves 14% to go which can be achieved by pulse with at least 10k SP, probably could even go a little lower on SP.
If you can't reach 60% without the current smg bonus, you don't have a crit build, you have an smg build.
