...until i saw those outlined-bosses looking like scifi-characters and that big white circle following the AI-Boss. The orange-circle above was clear enough, i would say, even for little kiddies. fighting outlined highlighted opponents, seriously?
...well, with such stuff, not even in my "think-maybe-to-buy"-list.
Exactly. It just ruins the realism. Also the whole game seems unrealistic, that's what disapoints me. Fights seem too repetitive aswell. Animations are unrealistic too. This white lock thing is even worse than Assassin's Creed's one. Is this for blind people ?
Anyway, the game's concept is great, but Ubisoft is always far from realism. I think it paradoxally ruins the fun. Too much of an "arcade" "beat'em all" kind of game.
It really is different when you're actually playing the game. You will focus a lot more on reading your opponent rather than noticing the UI elements.
THAT BEING SAID HOWEVER... During last night's "Masterclass" stream they did say that nothing is set in stone and there was talks about being able to disable UI elements.
Please, I trully beg the devs! An option for disabling the UI, either entirely, or element by element, would be sooo important. The game already has gorgeous animations that are clear enough and very fun to read. So having the glowey stuff on top of things is such a waste.Originally Posted by FredEx919 Go to original post
I was just about to make a thread about this, with a petition vibe and perhaps a poll, so we can have an idea of how much the community trully deeply wants this option. But since this thread touched the subject, I guess anotehr thread is not needed. We're counting on ya, dear Community Manager.
From what I read around here, it really seems that the UI is the very biggest dislike on all the feedback. So I'd say it'd be wise to tone it down and offer the option to turn it off, even for those special buffs we saw on the Viking Campaign (there are enough cues already... no need for that orange glow... and I'd even take no cues at all, over that damn glow).
And lobbies (or whatever) in multiplayer, with no UI, woud also be great! It would split the player pool, but I really think it'd be worth and there would be enough players interested in playing no HUD (when they know it will mean no HUD for the enemies as well).
The UI just turns the game into something modern and digital ... while the game is about old warriors of the past. Also, Ubisoft said this game would be for "hardcore gamers". Real intention or marketing / communication trick ? Because from all we can see, there is a light attack button, heavy attack button, and parry (/ dodge ?). No combos ? No game progression ? Skill tree ? Only temporary / unrealistic buffs ?
I can't stop thinking about Ryse : Sons of Rome or Middle Earth : Shadow of Mordor which looked exciting, but ended up being tasteless and repetitive games. And as For Honor doesn't seem to be a top-tier from the Ubisoft line-up, I fear that not enough effort will be put into this game.
Honestly I was expecting a game like Chivalry : Medieval Warfare about the "realism" and the gameplay sensation, with this "real fight" feeling and a challenging gameplay. But For Honor just looks like a god of war-like.
I fear that we get bored after 1 hour of playing this game, with a classic / boring campain that just looks like a tutorial for multiplayer mode. Move forward, press 2 buttons during the whole game, keep moving forward, end of the game.
I just hope I'm wrong but my apprehensions and fears almost never fail me. I had the same bad feelings about Watch Dogs and The Division and it ended up being games that were more about Marketing and Communication Campains rather than great experiences. Ubisoft have the skills to do so ! Just look at Assassin's Creed 1 and 2 ... awesome games ... but then it turned into a Call-Of-Duty-one-game-every-year-for-money kind of game.
