Could it be that we are overreacting here and these are just the story campaigns heroes ? That would explain why they look like leaders and not like common soldiers. Maybe these warriors are on the site because of the singleplayer reveal.

I mean we havent seen any of them on a mp map, have we ?

preimiumart you do mention a very good point. I'm hoping that this might be the case and you're correct. What drew me into this game was it wasn't all mythical creatures, fancy armor, and over the top weapons with lightning bolts shooting out. The game took us back to a simpler yet magnificent time and a world I could immerse myself into. I'm hoping they are not putting in elaborate armor colors and over the top weapons to appeal to an audience. The moment I play against someone and they have rainbow colored armor with a sword that shoots lightning and a 60ft tall dragon i'm done.

Well the Kensei kinda looks like a general would, so maybe we will play more as officers and not like leaders.

On the ship in the beginning of the Level the was shown off at E3 the other vikings look more like the old screenshot of a warborn and the raider himself stands out.

On the other hand the description speaks of the Kensei as a group so i could be totally wrong.

(btw i spoted a Oni in the campaign level and he seems to be unchanged, also the viking with the sword and shield. Which probably means that there was no character redesign they are just new heroes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlno_K72sF4 )

While the Sinlge Player Raider is not exactly my cup of tea either, I found the other Vikings in the background to look fantastic. Liked the look of the female Viking a lot as well. That combination of braids and helmet just looks very kick-***!

I agree the other vikings looked pretty great, for me it was just the raider and the female warrior (Cause wings) that didn't do it. Not a big fan of them making the vikings look more like the Hollywood version then the real version. The samurai though looked great, their armor looked authentic, there were no ridiculous additions like bones hanging on their belts. The mempo for the Samurai boss was great.

I updated the thread with new additions seen in various videos. As for the old design vs. new design, Jason said when answering a question that these factions and characters are meant to be exaggerations of their historical counterparts. They did this because they want you to actually feel the emotions and indescribable qualities associated with these great warriors. They wanted you to feel it, not just look at some photorealistic historical depictions. For that I applaud them with the direction they're going!

If you don't like horns there was a video which showed a brief glimpse into Viking customization and there were plenty of variations without horns. As for the revenge thing, it might be For Honor's version of a killstreak reward. In which case I'll have to play the alpha or beta to form an opinion about it. But they've been playing this game for well over a year, they know the complications that could arise that we don't know yet. Maybe some of these changes will make sense when we actually get to play.

I'm glad that you can get rid of your own guy's horns, but I'll still have to see the NPCs with their ridiculous gear. To me being Viking/ Norse, would mean passion and freedom, not primitive savagery (Bone Belt), the Vikings/ Norse wernt savages. I know that the general population has a very narrow view on what Vikings (The Norsemen) were like, but I would personally like to see the vikings return to the design they had at E3 2015.
