Quick buzzkill analysis from moi; fire arrows aren't historically accurate and (IIRC) neither are spikes that far in the sea.

Now that you mention it, it does look quite cinematic, like it's part of a cut scene. It would be great to see some of the single-player, to see t least a glimpse of how that's being handled.

They also never lit the eyes of their prow ornaments on fire... but it looks intimidating as hell, and I wouldn't want them to change it anyway.

I thought it was all CGI. Something I mentioned on the sub was the possibility of a naval combat for the SP. Without having to ground the gameplay to PVP and multiple players, there's a lot of freedom to experiment with those things.
