    Story Ideas/Timeline Ideas

I was just wondering how you guys think this game will be connected to GRAW or GRFS. I believe we will see some Ghosts from GRFS as NPC's when they first started out possibly your AI squad. I wouldn't mind references to the missions in GRAW 1-2. What would you guys like to see come out of this game. Maybe this is where Mitchell was in between GRAW 2 and GRFS and yes i believe Mitchell survived.

    I sincerely hope not.

I'd prefer GRW be a standalone narrative experience and not be tied to GRAW. My reluctance to accept any ties with it is primarly because of the portrayal of the Ghosts and the premise in the GRAW games

In GRAW, the Ghosts are basically a highly trained and well equipped Infantry unit fighting - more or less - a conventional war. It was less Black Ops Direct Action and more Hold the line stuff.

Ghost Recon 1 painted the Ghosts as a highly trained and elite direct action unit - like the SEALs and The Rangers had a baby. Future Soldier ran with that concept too...and GRW is perhaps the best representation of the Ghosts till date - a comprehensive take on the 'Operator' fantasy.

I always imagined Ghosts to be a small unit of extremely well trained and experienced operators from all branches of the US Army....who are sent in for completely deniable actions...stuff that can spark international wars if they **** up....and GRAW IMO strayed the furthest from it.

You mean the Green Berets? lol. The Ghost Recon unit is a subdivision of Army Special Forces 5th SFG.

Anyways I want to see connections to Future Soldier. Maybe see Joe Ramirez, McGann, Haynes and Richard Allen who all died in the first GRFS mission as side characters?

Funny story actually - McGann, Haynes, and Allen were former leads at Ubi. I will never forget Christian Allen's response, "Ubisoft killed us, lol?"

I really, really, really want this team to be brand new. In all actuality I'd prefer a reboot at this point kind of like what happened with Rainbow Six Siege except with less jazz hands explanations like they supplied with that game. I feel like this is a new beginning for this franchise and I just don't want to see this title be muddied up by characters from the past without good reason to.

Given the developers' heavy emphasis on cooperative gameplay and character customization, I'd be rather surprised if this wasn't a brand new team. It'd be sort of weird for the game's website to use phrases like "You Decide Who" to describe "Your Ghost" if you were actually railroaded into always playing Joe Ramirez.

P.S. "Jazz hands explanations" is my favorite description of some of the sillier additions to Siege.

LOL it's the only description I could think of. It's like this:

Who is Angela Bassett's character and where is Ding? Who is the guy that talks over the radio? What exactly is that yellow fart gas that kills everyone? Why was Rainbow as a unit deactivated when terrorism is just as much of a threat now as before? Who are these generic Batman gang villains in Terrorist Hunt? Why are the characters wearing their origin unit's gear instead of Rainbow's?

    Ubisoft: Well...you see...JAZZ HANDS!

But you missed the very best one, Dan! "Why are these SAS troopers assaulting a building to rescue a hostage . . . currently being held by other SAS troopers?

    "Erm, well, the thing is . . . "

I gather I like Siege better than you do, but that still bugs me a little bit whenever I stop to think about it.

5/5 post You explain my gripe with Siege perfectly. Team Rainbow only appears on the title and there are female Navy Seals running around Lol.

+1 to reboot from me too. IMO the characters have been shallow and forgettable, maybe it's just because I don't really buy into the Tom Clancy's lore... I'd rather keep the stories separate.

This perfectly sums up my problems concerning the background of Siege. I will never understand why Ubisoft spent so much money to hire Angela Basset only to put her in maybe 5 minutes worth of anything. They could have just kept Ding and Clark, giving a nice callback to the older fans and saving money.
Also interesting fact about the Ubisoft leads, I did not know that.

For me it's easier to get interested in the Splinter Cell line of the TC universe, since it's overall more of a narrative type of story. I still enjoy all the storylines regardless. Also the female Navy SEALs is possible since they are going to start admitting women into the unit sometime this year. But it's still a problem in Siege because the SEALs are supposed to be DEVGRU, which is remaining a male only unit :/
