Is anyone else just screwed in this game now?

Wow, I am trying to love this game but every patch they make just makes me hate it a bit more. Before 1.1 I was a solo player who could hold my own against a group of four in the DZ, I could fight my way to about DZ 5 and still make it out alive. I was able to beat every mission on every difficulty, some easier than others... After 1.1 things got harder, but I still got a bit stronger, I was able to fight DZ 6 now and I mostly stayed there after three nights in a row of just getting murdered in anything less than DZ 3. I was only able to beat falcon lost once when I got lucky and matched with a decent group.

Then 1.2 came... Now I cant even step foot in the DZ, mainly due to the fact that I am GS 197 and in the 201+ bracket, aka ganker city... I even tried to go back down to DZ 1 today figuring I would just try to avoid players, only to get destroyed by the DZ 1 W subway boss in a matter of seconds!!! I used to melt that guy! Ok, stay calm, theres a new incursion, lets go try that... NOPE. I can barely find a group for this thing and when I finally did, we got crushed. OK, wait, there is new PVE content... maybe that will work... NOPE. The highest mission I can complete on solo is like the third contract in the daily HVT vendor list, and the reward for it is... GS 163 junk...

Well, apparently I have reached the end of the division. I cant progress my character any more since the areas where I need to go to get higher powered gear, all destroy me in like three bullets. OH, wait. I almost forgot. I did get a piece of 240... When I was sneaking around DZ 6 desperately trying to get division tech for crafting and a supply drop chest almost fell on my head! I managed to open it before the LMB even got there... hahaha and then they nuked me.

I can remember a day when games were designed with a solo player as the focus, and the multiplayer thing was just a bonus. Now it seems like if your not a group of 4 with armor mit of 75% you are not even invited to play this game... If massive is going to turn the DZ into an area where group play is required, then they should at least give solos the option to power up in campaign map. Right now where my character is there is no way for me to get stronger short of buying it out of BOO, or crafting it at the table. Because every other option is too difficult for me to even attempt. Which kind of sucks for a guy with a full time job and a family.

this is a team oriented tactical cover based shooter. balanced teams will always trump solo play, and if they tune the missions for solo players, its way too easy for teams. (note: you can solo most of the "group recommended" HVT missions, and that will gear you up pretty quickly)

"Tom Clancy's The Division is an open-world RPG experience". Perhaps I missed the part about it being team orientated, but that isn't how it was advertised in my country. There should be an option for solo players to gear up properly, without all of the elitist stuff players like to pull in games. I've heard all of the "best gear is for team play" "top tier gear is only needed for the hardest content (which is group content)".

Honestly, give the solo players the option to gear up playing solo so they can also attempt the hardest content. The game doesn't have to be balanced around group play, it can scale to group play (more players in the group increase the difficulty of the content).

No wonder developers don't bother, they have players who assume too much making their lives easier, when they could be catering to all demographics.

I'm calling BS on you. With your gear score there are plenty of activities you should be able to handle that will progress your character. In the DZ you need to use cover and actual tactics if you're solo.

How does someone with an honest GS of 197 get thrown into a 201+ DZ?

Games are marketed to kids (pre-teens>20s).

This audience often times does have more time to play and a steady group of friends from school.

It sucks for working adults... Especially if you are a gamer and your adult friends are not... But this is who they are targeting because it's the most profitable, right or wrong.

I also read a statistic that stated as gamers get older, the need for competition (PVP) decreases and the need for tactical thinking and planning (PVE; RTS; SP) becomes more important because most PVP games rely on Twitch reflexes more than actual planning and strategy. This is relevant because this is what the OP is essentially saying. They may not like the actual PVP content, but the PVE content should allow solo players to at least, attempt to do the missions and not just make them completely geared toward groups.

Dude.....a lot of us have full time jobs and families. But if you're saying that the daily HVTs that can drop 214gear, and the higher ones that can drop 240, are too hard for you then give up now. Seriously.....im tired of seeing the defeatist attitudes from people on these forums. If you're a level 30 and have at least some gold gear (which everyone should have an abundance of considering they started GIVING it away a month ago), there is absolutely NO reason why you cant solo the daily HVTs. Sure, they recommend a group. It doesnt require one though. If you're that willing to accept failure, then thats your problem. There are multiple ways to get high end gear, phoenix credits, etc and they dont all involve dark zone.

You are lying about something here

"im a solo player who could hold my own against groups of 4"
If you could take on groups of 4 then you shouldnt have any problems with anything in this game pre or post 1.2

Your GS being 197 shows you arent even trying to improve your player. HVTs drop 240s. Incursions drop gear sets. Theres ways to gear up and then go darkzone
But bottom line you need to run group if you want to get a lot of good gear out of the DZ. Its not hard just run around and invite people you see. Someone will join

It takes your highest gun GS and your highest weapon GS

So if you have a 204 gun then you are in the 200+ bracket as it should be. Cant have griefers with their 204 brutal deadly fierce augs going into the noob brackets
