My Irrelevant Thoughts Playing A Total Of 9 Hours W/ Patch 1.2

Please note, I've been playing since release. When I got off of work and walked in the door. I gave my kid and wife a kiss and a hug. They knew what time it was as soon as I got home. Haha. I made a deal if they let me play as much as I wanted after work I would take them to six flags on Sunday. Anyways, let's get into this.

    INCURSION

EXPERIENCE - This is the FIRST thing I wanted to try. I WAS a 201 w/ 211k DPS, 201k TGH, 20k SKL. I got my squad together which consisted of 198, 210, 207 GS levels. 3 of us went in with 200+ DPS builds and one had 56k SKL. We didn't Google or research clear sky at all. Basically, what we did was follow the 198 SKL build player by walking in his constant stream of heals for the whole match. His pulse enabled the 3 of us to quickly dispose of every single mob easily. We focused fire on shot gunners, then machine guns, then any other mob that was visible. When it came to carrying the bomb we stayed together and followed the same method basically. Boss was cake as well and only 2 members had to use survival link. We completed clear sky in 16 minutes the first run. We did this 5 more times right after and ended up doing the incursion in 8 minutes. Highest GS item we received was 214. Most items wasn't usable but it was nice to get a constant array of 214 armor and 204 weapons.

THOUGHTS - When Massive said they are being generous. Ummm, they definitely meant that. I'm not saying this is a cake walk (all depends on communication) but it's A LOT easier and quicker than Falcon Lost. I had more fun in Clear Sky than Falcon Lost. We never got bored after doing it a total of 6 times. I tried Falcon Lost once and I'm done for the week. Haha. Overall, I liked it better. It was quick, challenging, and the rewards were great. Challenge mode is going to be fun. GOOD JOB MASSIVE!

    HQT/HRT

EXPERIENCE - While 2 of us was waiting for 1 member to go to the store for his wife. We started doing a daily side mission to get Intel. I accumulated a total of 6 Intel after doing 3 side missions. 2 for completing the mission (2 missions), 2 for completing a special mission, and 2 for handing the mission in. We didn't do the actual target due to the fact the member we were waiting for was ready to venture into the DZ.

THOUGHTS - I don't even think I'm going to waste any more time with this due to what you are about to read below. This is a GOOD ALTERNATIVE if you don't like the Dark Zone content (PVP). Nothing more nothing less. Dark Zone is still far more beneficial at getting better gear, and quicker as well.

    DARK ZONE

EXPERIENCE - We started off at DZ 06. The first batch of mobs we had to finally fight tactically instead of run and gunning. Not going to go over every encounter. But long story short, man oh man is it challenging, but most importantly, IM HAVING FUN PLAYING DIVISION! The drops were amazing. Got 3 240GS pieces myself. Remember the build I started off at up top. I'm 160k DPS, 389 TGH (132k Health), 29k SKL w/ 75% mitigation. Man am I durable. I kept getting Nomad and Final measure 240s so I decided to go with a tank build. Flamethrowers were still OP as hell, but we were able to manage it. Just keep your distance the best way you can.

Rogues? Almost non-existent. We encountered many non-agents but none tried to kill us and no one on the map went rogue in 2.5 hours. Wait a minute, I lied. A tweeker (kid) kept threatening to cut our rope, by himself. He waited till the counter reached 10 seconds and he cut the rope. We warned him many times not to do it but he did and was melted immediately. Other than that, no rogues were spotted.

THOUGHTS - I love the changes made. I love the brutal, reckless, and sentry adjustments. I would still tone down the damage dealt from flamethrowers and snipers though. I don't see THAT much of a difference in PVE between 200k THG and 389k THG. But I do see the difference when im pvping. We were soloing each other with different skill builds and the guy with the 268 DPS couldn't melt me at all. Definitely going full tank/skill build this patch. I think waiting 1:30 is far too long to call in an extraction. Hell, we have to wait a full minute already to actually extract the equipment. Seems like we're being forced to PVP. But hey, the game promotes PVP so it is what it is. Also note, the drops were amazing. EXCEPT for the chests. Even in DZ06 the chests only dropped at best a 163GS piece. The division tech boxes all dropped HE which was amazing. Bosses dropped good loot. Hell, I even got a 240GS Nomad piece in DZ03 from a boss.

    TLR

I AM HAVING FUN PLAYING THE DIVISION! THANK YOU MASSIVE!

The only thing I miss is the blue DTech that we could turn into mats. It's taking way to long to farm mats now(even though we should need to craft less now). I was able to raise my toughness to 330k last night and I also noticed a huge difference in PVP......I ran in against 3 ppl camping by the DZ 2 entrance and they couldn't even take me down, I had plenty of time to heal myself and my overdose would come back before they could kill me. Since I also have 230k DPS I was able to kill 2 of them alone before the last guy decided to make a run for it.

Seems as if PVP is easier now then PVE which is crazy and scary at the same time. I'm going to continue farming DZ 5 & 6 though until I get to a build I like. Massive took away Brutal, Sentry and Reckless for me so it's going to take awhile before I can get to where I once was.

You are missing out on the weekly HTV. They are very difficult to do solo due to the timer, but you will likely get a 240 set piece drop.

They are much easier than incursion, but take longer if you account for time to collect Intel. However, if your friends have inteal, you could do 4 HTV missions and get 4 set pieces. Much easier than incursion!

in patch 1.1 i stick always with 65% prot and was already above that. When 1.2 came out, it raise to 70%, so i decide to stick with it and build up my health and armor.

But i agree with you, in pve we get melted no matter what. So in this metta, we need 2 gears, one for pve and other for pvp.

    Had tons of fun yesterday

100% agree. No rhyme or reason on why NPCs melt me with a 150k+ differential in my build as opposed to non-agents. It's like Toughness doesn't matter when going up against NPCs. Not even the 50% exotic resilience increase perk on Final Measure matters.

Thank you for the informative post. Excuse my ignorance, I didn't do enough research on what the weeklies offer. So you CAN get 240 pieces with this method. Interesting.

Haha. Thanks for the tip. So maybe have a high DPS set if I'm specifically farming for PVE content (since apparently toughness doesn't even matter), and have a high TGH set when I know I'm rogue hunting. A macro would definitely come in handy if I can switch armor with one button.
