i like most of 1.2, but GS means even less now

the gs was complete garbage to begin with, but now it's worse.

a lot of games have a gear score type system. games like destiny, tor, dcuo. only in this game can you increase your gear score and lower your combat effectiveness. because of the rng cluster fck in this game, you can have a 182 weapon that does better damage and has better talents than 204. and now, it's raining loot.

i did all of the hvt missions, and completed the incursion yesterday. i got 12 (twelve) pieces of set gear, many of them 240. most ppl have figured out that the gear score in this game is hot vomit. many ppl have figured out how to manipulate it, ie lowering it to get to a lower gank-zone, or raising it to get into (and not get kicked from) a pve group. i would really like to see gear score mean something. they really should at the very least narrow the ranges on quality level (purple-orange-etc) and gear score, so you don't have significantly lower lvl/quality items outperforming higher lvl stuff.

this loot rain will make ppl happy. for a while. when the honeymoon ends, and end it will, it will just be another problem to solve. storage is already an issue. rng on this scale is pure laziness, or time/budget restraint. a structured system of customizing and upgrading gear would have been better, and had more longevity. we just get a bunch of 700 sided dice falling from the sky.

with the torrential downpour of loot, gs won't tell you anything at all. i don't always have the patience or the time to coach ppl through things like incursion, so in such a case, if i saw everyone had a high enough score, i would know they had already beaten it. not anymore. casual solo ppl should enjoy the game and get loot yes, but i can't be a coach all the time. i have about a dozen thank you messages in my xbl from ppl who beat the incursion for their first time with me, and i'm happy for them, but it gets tedious.

i'm glad i beat the new incursion, and i think it was a lot more fun than the last one, but i have very little inclination to do it again, because i can do solo content and get the same 700 sided dice.

I like the new update, but it's ridiculous how easy it is to obtain gear set items now. I'm a legitimate GS 215 and now, it's meaningless. The loot system was just fine before 1.2; gear set items are SUPPOSE TO BE HARD to obtain and with the luck of RNG for your rolls. It's unfortunate that the legitimate players that put in countless hours and hard work end up being for nothing in the end... seeing that everyone can obtain gear easily.

Eh, "legitimate." I've put in the equivalent of 9 weeks of a full-time job playing this game, so I don't know if that meets the "countless hours" threshold, and I'm happy with this. Update 1.1 gave us lots more loot, almost none of which was worth keeping. Tuesday brought stuff I'd actually consider hanging on to.

Gear Score was always meaningless -- it reflected nothing about your performance in the game, only what activities you'd done, and what activities you were "allowed" to do.

I don't mind the gear set items being bountiful as the chance of getting one with really good rolls is still elusive... therefore there is a trade off between quality and quantity.

Indeed. With the number of variables on every piece of gear, you need that kind of quantity just so you have as many rolls of the dice as you can get.

GS shouldn't mean much of anything except the level of gear that person uses. Just like any item game, level doesn't matter, just the perfect roll.

    Define "legitimate"?

Does that mean you were someone who was fortunate enough to have a list of online friends who play this game, and therefore could farm the Incursions or the DZ for Gear set items?

As opposed to we "filthy casuals" who had to settle for pointlessly grinding the dailies for nothing more than crafting materials every day? After a month of daily play I got nothing from them but some shaders....a couple of 182 weapons (shotguns, LOL....) and 3 Striker glove.

...and I consider myself to be one of the lucky ones to get even that many gloves.

Its easy to be a "hardcore" gamer when you have few (if any) real world responsibilities away from the game console or PC.

Legitimate meaning I complete the incursions the way they're suppose to be and going into the DZ. Sometimes it's with online friends, sometimes it's with randoms, it doesn't matter to me.

Not that I'm a hardcore gamer nor do I want to share my life responsibilities to you (It's none of your business either way), but to assume that hardcore players don't have any real life responsibilities seems rather arrogant of you.
