I have used the aug extensively since I was already dz 75 when the blueprint surfaced the week of 1.1. I have tried the vector and mp5 and I hate them. A lot. You can see comparisons on YouTube of the 3smg's and there is a reason why the rest aren't included. Here is my opinion which is not based on any concrete evidence, but im sure most will agree.

MP7: small mag, low damage, crazy rate of fire. Handles like crap and is worthless.
Converted smg: no grip slot, big mag, low damage. Also handles like crap because of a lot of horizontal kick.
T821: okay damage, big mag, handles the best, very slow rate of fire.

    Now the big 3

Vector: highest damage, small mag, 3rd slowest fire rate 750rpm, yet still handles like crap. You WILL need horizontal stability to accurately fire.
AUG: 2nd slowest rate of fire at 725 rpm (not much difference from vector), second best in handling, second in damage, and the only smg with a balanced mag size at 25 rounds.
MP5: second highest rate of fire at 825, big mag at 32 rounds, 3rd best in damage. Also handles kind of like crap. You would do well with some horizontal stability, but not completely necessary.

I'm a big fan of weapon handling. The aug is an amazing balance of what everyone likes about the smg's in the game. Medium sized mag, comparatively good handling, and a decent enough rate of fire that can be easily improved.

A major advantage of the aug is that by increasing the rate of fire you still have a weapon that can hit its target while sending a lot of rounds down range. Increasing the rate of fire on the vector or mp5 causes them to kick around liked a methed out mule. The only way to counter that with the other guns is to be very close to your target and that's not always good news.

Of course, all of this really depends on how it feels to you when you're lacing someone up with lead. Why I love the aug is that is not the best in anything,it has great diversity in its application. No gun is as effective at multiple ranges which makes it tops to me. Sure, someone with a vector or mp5 might have an advantage at closer range, but they have to be close whereas I don't. That and the talents on the weapon can make all the difference.

I'll say this though. The aug had only been offered once in dz3 vendor plans and once for sale at the base. The vector has been offered twice already. Everyone still uses the aug. Now if the mp5 bp gets put up for saleand everyone stats using that, then you'll know what people think between the big 3.

Even though I spend most of my game time in the DZ I'm a PVEr. I'm used to the slow upwards tick of the MP5 and frankly it suits my playstyle better than the AUG.

Can't wait to get the BP, should it ever come out, and craft me a 204 to replace my BoO AUG.
