    MP5 vs AUG

So I've been a big believer in the MP5 for a while now, but I keep reading that it seems a lot of people seem to prefer the AUG over the MP5.

Before I go spending a bunch of money/mats/whatever getting a decent AUG to do side-by-side comparisons with, can anyone tell me their personal preferences, and why?

I ran with an mp5 before 1.1 it has the biggest potential magazine size but the recoil is quite severe.

The slower rate of fire on the AUG put me off, never really been a fan but I didn't manage to get the 204 blueprint for it. Each AUG I have used has been bought or found.

I believe the AUG has better range and less drop off in damage at range than the other options.

I would love to see a 204 MP5 blueprint at some point.

I'm a sheep running a 204 Vector, until a viable alternative comes along.

They all have pro's and cons it comes down to personal preference. if you can I would try to grab one of each at a lower tier, hit the firing range and try each to find the one you prefer before any heavy investment.

AUG doesn't have noticeable recoil and it has higher per bullet damage.

Am I the only one who likes the converted SMG?

    There is simply no comparison.

Sure MP5 handles better than vector, But so does AUG. In terms of handling, I'd say they are about even.
But once we start talking about damage, AUG trashes MP5. The BOO Aug I have been using does 12.5k per bullet with ~3000 firearm, On the contrary the best MP5 I have seen barely tops 10k. Sure MP5 has a slightly larger magazine, That does not make up the 25% bullet damage difference.

    In conclusion,
    damage AUG > MP5
    handling AUG => MP5
accessibility AUG > MP5 (204 BP, BOO aug that can be bought with 800 Phoenix credits)

    AUG wins.

Well you should also remember the critical hit chance, plus damage.

The AUG has a higher base damage but also has a lower rpm and magazine size, the mp5 on the other hand has a higher magazine size and a much higher rate of fire.

With a maxed out critical hit chance and a high critical hit damage the mp5 could be better than the AUG since it would be able to land more hits at a much higher rate.

I cannot confirm any of that though I have not done any proper testing but I feel that is something to consider with all SMG's, base damage is not the most important thing, the vector is a good example of that.

You're forgetting about rate of fire. I prefer Aug because it's more forgiving and has the best smg range but you can get more burst damage out of the mp5.

The Aug is almost a hybrid AR like the L86 which is an LMG that is almost an AR.

Also on a personal note I have felt that the mp5 performs better than the AUG and has a better TK time.

Higher RPM only means that you empty your magazine faster, Less room for error and possibly bigger waste on bullets. I have to restock a lot more often when I was running the MP5. Everyone in the DZ is running AUG, I think that explains enough.

There is no reason the MP5 can have more critical hit chance or damage than the AUG, As they are both of the same class SMG weapons.

And let me say it again, High end GS204 Aug can be much more easily accessed than the MP5. You could have bought it from BOO (not the best but certainly better than most) for phoenix credits, Or craft it if you have the DZ blueprints. Where can you find a GS 204 HE MP5 to compare with? I have played 300 hours and I have never seen a single GS204 MP5.
