I knew the cheater problem was big but i didnt expect it to be this problematic
we literally cant tell who's cheating and who isnt.
i wonder if the anti cheat that comes with 1.2 will be able to detect the smarter cheaters...
EDIT: idk if this was posted already, i dont visit this forums that often anymore

Not at all surprising or shocking.
Cheating with largest impact on players is always related to PvP. Nobody would care about cheating in PvE if there was no PvP in the game.
I, personally, would like to understand thought process of person that decides to cheat. What is their motivation? Why spending $ and then spoil the experience by using cheats? Was the game too hard or too time consuming for their liking?
Unfortunately, that Reddit post did not provide much insight as to why that person cheated. That could have been interesting information for us and eventually developer to adjust the game to reduce incentives to cheat and develop a game that is enjoyable.
The way around the suspension was found the same day they issued them, there's a couple of sites explaining how to get round it.Originally Posted by s140183 Go to original post
I don't support cheating so i will not be providing links but a google search will provide more info.
But the point is that his post implies he isn't utilizing such things. His post is all past tense. So it is contradictory to what he is saying.Originally Posted by CROWFETT Go to original post
I can only assume he refers to "been banned" as getting permanent ban, aka 2nd infraction. Suspension, being first infraction, could have been bypassed by some means, however, permanent ban is probably done on different level and can not be bypassed.Originally Posted by s140183 Go to original post
I'm thinking the problem is detecting it in real time. (Costly in terms of computer resources)
But they can probably detect it afterwards by simply running a report given a specific set of parameters.
I wouldn't be surprised if the reporting system is probably something that can trigger a report on a specific player.
Why would he disclose how to do it? It appears to me that he is trying to provoke a solution. It seems very legitimate to me. The things that he mentioned are exactly things that I would do if I were a cheater. Nothing too drastic, just enough to make me better than everyone else. It appears that is what is going on.Originally Posted by Kyosji Go to original post
They have only really been running the detection methods for about 3 weeks now, it will take them some time to get things tuned in and I am sure they will continue to improve the process. It would have been nice if this was dealt with during beta but I am willing to give them some more time. They are making progress and I wouldn't be surprised if a second ban wave hits soon.
