Morning.
This is a simple suggestion. I'm sure the subject has been posted about previously. But I'm still curious as to why its not seriously been considered.
Why can't the DZ's be split into PVP and Non PVP areas? You choose upon entry.
Players are naturally split into 2 camps. Players who like PVP, and players who don't. Sure there are some who like both, but I would say are a minority. Doesn't it make sense then to put these players in and amongst similar minded players. I for example am a PVE player. I wouldn't miss PVP if it was completely removed from the game. I take my pleasure from overcoming a tough boss, or overwhelming waves of NPC's. To be gunned down by a group of 4 players(Hacking or not) is absolutely not fun for me. On the flip side Im sure an equal number of players really enjoy the PVP challenge, and should be allowed to play the game which best suits them. To mix the 2 groups will always make one side unhappy. True PVP'ers would have much more fun playing against like minded players. Players who actually put up a fight, and loved the excitement. Where is the fun for a decent PVPer gunning down a player who's not interested, and doesn't put up a fight. Sure some of the players love this, but in my opinion the game would be better off without them.
The above is only a suggestion. Games should be fun for all, and players shouldn't be made to play in a style that they don't enjoy. Choice is the answer. All will be happy. If in the end on server is empty, then the dev's will know for sure which play style is preferred.
Thanks for your time.
I am going to keep this short and simple..
If you want what the DZ has to offer, you have to go in and fight for it. Simple.
If you want to PVE effectively , you need to wait until 1.2.
Other than that, get that PVE DZ out of your head, it's the worst idea ever in a game where the HIGHLIGHT is the tension of the DZ.
You are asking to remove that tension, and make this game basically Fallout 4 with coop. No Thanks.
@OP
Patch 1.2 info should gave you enough hints about direction that Massive wants to drive this game and in particular its DZ component. Just FYI in case you have not yet read it, new hijack mechanic is introduced into game that allows players to cut extraction rope with loot on it and steal it (they will turn rogue at successful cut).
It is very clear from this that Massive have no intention to tone down rogue activity, instead they try to incentivize it and focus it around extraction--which seems to be their original idea, with which they created Dark Zone in first place. The fact that lots of people do not like PvP aspect of it, or its overabundance, is completely ignored by Massive. You can not expect separate PvE and PvP DZ after this upcoming update.
--Edit--
PvE might get love with upcoming High Value Targets and additional weekly missions, which can compensate for loss of DZ activities, which will be clearly reserved for PvP savvy players. Question is if it will be enough to keep PvE focused players busy and interested until next content patch arrives.
I personally will try to get into PvP if PvE part of patch 1.2 is solid. If it is not good enough, I will take a break from the game.
I have nothing more to add.Originally Posted by thaherbsmoka Go to original post
I don't mind going into the darkzone I just don't care for the forced PVP.Originally Posted by thaherbsmoka Go to original post
I've linked a video in a few threads where the devs said the dark zone is NOT a pvp battle arena nor would it be set up that way. It was entirely up to the players how they approached the darkzone. which then suggests the pvp is optional if it's up to the player whether they want to participate or not.
What this then means is that if I don't want to pvp in the darkzone I shouldn't have to, after all as the devs said I am NOT entering a pvp battle ground.
I should not ever be required to pvp in order to progress my pve character. and because the darkzone is NOT a pvp battle ground participation in PVP should not be forced or cumpulsery.
As our esteemed PVP-oriented players pointed out, you either go and pop a vein while you enjoy the HIGHLIGHT (read tension, feel free to add caps on that word as well) or be a carebear and wait for your PVE 1.2 update.Originally Posted by llamatron Go to original post
Cause it is painful to realize that if you do like PVP so much, and there are so many PVP players in this game, the zone will still have lots of players running around shooting each other in the back. But since the majority of the PVP crowd depend on PVE players to shoot at, there you go, no separate PVP/PVE servers and/or dark zone.
The issue is not a PVP DZ or PVE end game it is a case of do not make the players go into the DZ for weekly challenges. This way the people that do not want the PVP DZ do not have to enter and they can still play and upgrade their character. I am looking forward to the 1.2 improvements in PVE environment, just stop forcing people into the dark zone and in some cases DZ05/06 just to get the weekly challenge complete. This would make both categories of players happy and keep them playing. I know we will see a spike next week in player numbers as many who left until 1.2 was released will come back the game's ability to retain the returning players will only be ensured if they do not drive 60-70% of the players away because they force them to play a game they do not want to play.
They were perfectly clear that the Dark Zone was going to be a PvP hub before the game launched. Matter of fact they use the added threat of hostile players to justify giving it better loot than normal. People need to accept that the DZ is supposed to be the wild west and move on already.Originally Posted by CalvyB Go to original post
