I use a Controller to play Far Cry 4 and whenever the controller is plugged in, the game is almost unplayable, animations don't work, doors wont open, I can't start mission, and I get the Black Screen at launch as well, I have to Alt+Tab in and out just to get to the Main Menu. I have the latest Patch of Far Cry 4 and I did a lot of research to try and fix the problem, but no luck. I paid for the game and I Cannot play it. I refuse to play with Keyboard and mouse. I hope there is something you guys can do for me because i am running out of options and i am going to have an untouched game sitting in my library taunting me.
upgrade to win 10 some times fixes it for some..... if your trying to use an X box pad
worked perfect for me with an old logitech Dual action game pad in win 7 64 bit .. didnt even need to install drivers
only picked up the controller from time to time to drive and fly the wingsuit ..the rest o the game i used a mouse and Keyboard
see this post on the Steam forums about configuring your HID devices it may help ....

i tried it on my Brothers X box one .. it was frustrating as hell .. keyboard and mouse is all i use now in the game
tho the wingsuit stuff was a bit easier with my Logitech pad .. especially the one mission where you have to fly thru the canyon to hook back up with agent willis
think that mission was death from above ...now i just use my KB + mouse
(its just a matter of timing with the wingsuit .. you have to tap not hold down the shift Key to deploy it )
if you keep having problems with your game pad try upgrading to Win 8 or 10 ..some said that fixed it
or it could be you need to re map your HID devices like that one link says so your game pad is #1 in your registry ????
dunno i do not nor ever plan on buying an X box pad .. i like logitech for game controllers ..or my old gravis game pad ..or my 3DFX rumble pad (that thing is ancient but still works fine for my older games )
an like i said my old dual action Logitech game pad worked fine .. even with no drivers installed .. Win 7 just picked up it was a Logitech dual action pad when i plugged it in
