Wow, just wow. So they nerfed something, and they said that they wouldn't. Break out the pitchforks because something changed in a video game. Maybe it seems like it got nerfed because it isn't broken anymore. I don't know, but that seems like a viable answer to it being "nerfed".

Their problem is that they can't tell the difference between a nerf and a fix. This is a fix. It was broken. Now it is getting fixed. It wasn't working as it was clearly advertised. Now it IS going to work as it was advertised.

I totally get that, and I was just reading your rehash of the state of the game. Thanks for putting up the big points so I don't have to sit through watching it!. What I am seeing here, is that people think that they are nerfing Sentries Call gear because it is going to be smg specific now, which is quite the contrary. At least from what I am reading about the changes. It was broken as hell before, and if you run an smg build like I do, it's a viable choice to go for. Personally I run a 4 piece striker/2 piece tactician setup that suits my play style. Which is what the gear is supposed to do, suit "Your" playstyle, and not be the cookie cutter design that every is trying to make it be.

Had it just worked for marksmen rifles only, as I think many of us thought it would, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

SMGs were already OP as could be and then sentry put them even further over the line into the realm of ridiculous dps. Striker set is quite pathetic by comparison. Don't even get me started on tactician's and nomad. Either way, sentry was meant to be a marksmen focused set. Not a buff to a weapon set that was already far over balanced to begin with.
I agree it is 'broken' in its current state, mainly because it FAR outclasses the other sets. However, I really wish they would find a way to maintain it's applicability to automatic weapons, only because I hate the idea of an entire character build around just one primary weapon. It would take some work, but I want to believe it's possible.

I get that these suits are about establishing more clearly defined roles, but it would be nice to know your secondary weapon isn't always going to be....underwhelming compared to your primary. And yes you can still carry a shotgun for close range, but...the lack of choice, or the penalties for exercising that choice does sting a bit.

I think massive and ourselves have to decide what is a reasonable bonus for a four piece set, knowing it has to be at least twice if not three or four times better than a three piece bonus.
Maybe nerf it now and bring it back when everyone has it so we can at least use it in pve.

Yup! And this fix should put the gear back into what it was originally announced to be:

    • Sentry's Call - Marksmen/Sniper roles
    • Striker's - Assault/Close Combat roles
    • Tactician's Authority - Electronics/Support roles
    • Nomad - PvP Solo

Upcoming we are also receiving a new set - the Juggernaut - which will be suited for Tanking roles. Once that set is in play, we will have all of the main basic roles/play-styles covered in the game. I already know my support guy is going to be 4-Piece Tactician's and 2-Piece Juggernaut. My marksman is happy with 4-Sentry/2-Striker and my tank will most likely have 4-Juggernaut/2-Tactician's.
