in SWTOR... all pvp servers are dead most people plays on PVE severs..and they are packed-

i have posted about this 2 weeks ago. are you are so right.

THIS is not PVP this is PK and noting to do with skill at all.
there is to much damge vs Hit points ,,, you die before you can hit the keybord, even if you have 80k hitpoints.. you just die.. SWG made the same mistake back in pvp ..

in SWG people had like 100k dps 120k hitpoints and people duel all the time and pvp all the time then came a update and people had 200k dps and 60k hit points PVP DIED under a WEEK---

and i PVP ALL DAY .... IF ONLY IF i dont loss EXP or LEVEL.. why the hell do i want to pvp if i loss EXP ?

PS DAOC2 is coming ...HELL YEALL!!........ DaoC die to wow thats about it.. noting more

Unfortunately, such 'ganking' & 'griefing' is a primary reason why many people leave such games
I disagree with a lot of what your stated in your OP but I would agree that given a choice there are a number of people that would like to see a arena system or a more two sided faction area. I never understood the whole Im a division agent one minute and a rogue the next only to become a division agent again.

    More stats;

Game launch = 114k players online in steam.

Now = 6k-8k players online in steam.

    Hello niche PK market.

You never played this game. The PvP was in an area you had to port to. The PvE existed outside the PvP area, unless you chose to be on one of the few servers that were open world PvP. Most people played the first.

ironically, the PvE servers became the MOST popular server.
. but it was too little too late & the game still died anyways)
Sorry you're wrong. I played that game at launch and for many years. The PvP was always a zoned area you had to port into. They did have PvP FFA servers but it was very limited and most people did not play on them.

It's a loot orientated third person shooter role playing game (Exact same formula as Diablo 3 but with a different player perspective), there is nothing massive about The Division and trying to apply MMO stats to this type of game is pointless.
Even under your standards, Diablo 3 & Borderlands (love those games) are loot multiplayer games --they have CONSENSUAL PvP battlegrounds --ie, you both have to accept the challenge and/or goto a battleground where the specific goal is to beat each other .. (ie, there's no PvE where you can be backstabbed & killed by someone else when you're busying fighting another mob/boss or betrayed by a team-mate)

Look, they tried to copy destiny but ended up with a D3 loot simulator because they didn't initially have enough content to keep players going... so what do you do? make the loot so **** you need to grind for days to hopefully find that one item and that becomes the bottle neck, not challenging content...

Now they are copying the loot 2.0 patch that Blizzard rolled out for D3 3+ months after the games release instead of the 1 year it took Blizzard (I'm a bit fuzzy on the actual time it took but it felt like a year until Reaper was released). The PvP system was detailed as it was before you purchased the game and was available for testing in both closed and open beta, it's not like anyone should have been surprised that you could get back stabbed etc. That was the entire selling point.

What people are complaining about is they don't like the PvP system because all the best gear (Mainly weapons now since incursions) is gated in the DZ. That's a design choice and frankly a huge **** up. Now the best armor is found in incursions which is just a wave after wave pile of **** with no actual depth to it. Again, another design choice and a huge **** up.

There are plenty of people who are happy with the DZ but the ones who aren't are the ones who want gear that are located in it. There is a simple solution and that is make equivalent gear available from grinding PVE outside or in instances but that won't be happening any time soon. How good the PvP system is will have no bearing on this game in the end. It's how fast can Massive turn around their ****ty design choices and turn the game in to something functional.

See, what I feel atm is they should have made factions, like initially an agent has a choice to join the following: SHD, JTF, Rikers, Rioters, Cleaners etc. Players should have been given perks for joining each of these faction and weapons and gears complimenting the faction. The player must have the option to change factions and stuff as well, losing and gaining perks accordingly. PVP should have been between factions.

But yea the games good, jus gets repetitive as of now and the GRIND is a pain for casuals like me.

its obvious that they made the game is base on pvp... there is 3 big thing that ruined the game atm

    • hackers/cheaters/exploiters ruining the game ( most of these issues have been slowly fixed recently)
    • End game gear too easy to obtain.
    • game balance issue
    • scavenging not working properly

IMO, incursion is a huge misstake for the game since there was so many glitches and bugs haven't been fixed before releasing. now all we can hope is future end game gear can be MUCH harder to get...

I really like this suggestion.. choosing a faction... that's what World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, Blade & Soul, & most other games choose with players happy about it since you have clearly marked/defined enemies that can kill you & that you can kill with no backstabbing/ganking or griefing
