The whole no name and shame thing is exactly what's wrong with the world today. Criminals have more rights than normal citizens.
A criminal broke his leg trying to break into your home? Well you need to pay for his medical and mental distress.
This guy murdered your family but the officer didn't read him his rights? Well he deserves to be set free then.
Oh corrupt bankers and politicians caused you to lose you homes. Well we'll just give those same big businesses a bunch of money tax payer money to fix their problems.
If someone is a rotten person and does something terrible they should be shamed!
Lol shamed over a video game.Originally Posted by FireSnakeZero Go to original post
Come on man.
And if that person who called out someone was wrong or vindictive? What happens to the innocent player who this person reported as something else? All of a sudden this normal player is now shunned, harassed, treated like trash, all because of a single a-hole. Doesn't matter if latter on it came out differently, and the original reporter gets in trouble for the false report. Damage is done.Originally Posted by FireSnakeZero Go to original post
I could go into more detail about cyber bullying and harassment, and how it seems now days people foolishly take their own lives because they are shunned or harassed online, but I'll let Google help you with that one.
There's a reason game companies don't allow name and shame. It protects people, and themselves in case authorities need to go back and investigate for any reason.
If you have that it's just a game mentality then why not allow the shaming of bad people in the game? I don't want to play with someone who is going to kick me out of the group for the sole purpose of preventing me from getting the loot I earned.Originally Posted by il DOWN li Go to original post
If they choose to be that person then they should also deal with the consequences of no one wanting to play with them. It's just a game after all.
Sure but if they can provide solid video proof then...Originally Posted by Kyosji Go to original post
Wouldn't matter. Even if it was a dirtbag cheater. If he gets harassed by other players, and it gets bad enough where that player wants to contact the authorities, Ubi would have to help the authorities to find out who was doing the serious harassment. Also goes that if the dirtbag cheater is harassed enough he ends up taking his own life? We joke about it, but that's a serious thing. Best to avoid it altogether.Originally Posted by FireSnakeZero Go to original post
No one ever thinks of these things when making these threads.
While I very much do have rhe "it's just a game" mentality, have you read hiw seriously the rest of these forums take things?Originally Posted by FireSnakeZero Go to original post
I have seen people named get bombarded by cyber attacks, all sorts of trolling and even real world death threats.
Over a video game.
I think the policy us a good thing. People don't know where to draw the line.
The self proclaimed "legit" players tend to be some if the most hostile people on the forums.
I have people telling me to kill myself daily. Most with clear instructions of how to do it.
All because they failed to kill me in a video game.
Can't imagine how much worse it would be if I was actually doing something wrong.
You might be able to word play the persons name a bit if you really wanted to shame them that bad maybe. I don't like the shame and name stuff for the same reason mods don't like it as it just leads to to much bickering, however as a regular gamer it would be nice to know known cheaters so that if I were to encounter them I could run
