I'm wondering if this is a mistake in the update.

One thing I'm certain of is someone made a mistake. The official update thread clearly states that there is a reward for ongoing streaks. Either that was a mistake or the 7 day reset is.

Either way this just seems to a weak sauce replacement for the prospector.

The prospector knew your records and asked you to do things you did before. If you got a gold somewhere he'd ask you to get gold. If the best you did was bronze, he'd ask for bronze.

The prospector made you practice, he made you go back to tracks and achieve medals you got before. As a noob, I felt he was my instructor. He made me go practice 9 tracks a day to keep you sharp.

The puppy has no rhyme or reason. Today (repeat of day 1 rewards) he asked me to "complete" urban jungle. Urban jungle is the best coins per gas track I can find, I run it all the time just for coins. Gold is easy, platinum happens frequently yet for my "mission" I could have crashed 99 times and ran it in 9 minutes 59.999 seconds and still passed it. That's pointless, that's no challenge.

Why can't we have both? I don't hate the puppy in general, he wouldn't be such a bad dog if we didn't have to trade our prospector for him.

From a business standpoint, wouldn't you want to give us more reasons to play the game than less reasons? We traded 9 goals for 3 when we could have gone from 9 to 12.

I upgraded my gas tank so I wouldn't run out before I finished all 3 daily prospecting missions. Now the puppy shows up at 8:00 and is fed and sleeping by 8:05.

The more goals you give me, the more I play. Now with 2 showdown limit and 66% less daily missions there's a lot less to look forward to.

Seriously, from last season to this one we had a 60% reduction in showdowns and a 66.6% reduction in daily missions. I'm curious how that was seen as a good decision?

I completely agree with hanks420 above me. I see the appeal of a mission that rewards you for playing every day, but for anyone who isn't new to the game the puppy is completely worthless because the rewards are poo.
I used to do the 9 propector missions every day after work as well as showdowns. Now I have 2 showdowns to and nothing else to do.
I am really hoping the prospector and zudina come back with the next update, or some other replacement for them that is actually challenging/rewarding.

Agree with the last two bikers here.. I was waiting for more singleplayer / story missions, but was'nt expecting you to make the game less interesting.. I have used lots of gems on upgrading the max fuel, and 3 tasks a day would be fine with 10 as max fuel. If there wont be more stuff to do, it will get boring, and ill stop playing. Im not the "pay for shortcuts" guy, but i think ive spent more than 50$ on this game, which it really is NOT worth. You get Trails Fusion Max Edition for 30$, and there you can play as much as you want, and even real head to head PVP (this is something Frontier need imo).

Man, 5 days to go and I am stuck like glue at level 4. I don't know if they changed the formula up, but either they did, or I'm up against some really good players.
Don't think I'm going to make it to Level 1 and get the track.

has anybody seen the pink ribbon in some tracks?
i saw one in fang wall. maybe they have implement a new easter egg?
in bunker they still say "prospector is hidding a secret", now he is gone and the puppy is come...

yep I also saw pink or violet ribbon on one track, not sure which one, but actually I crashed to go back to see it again duno the purpose though

WRT puppy streaks, I like to compare to Asphalt 8, which has a very dedicated following. They have a five-day streak system where the first race of the day gets a credit bonus.
Day 1: +20%
Day 2: +30%
Day 3: +40%
Day 4: +50%
Day 5: +100%

Once you hit Day 5, you stay at 100% forever until you miss a day, then you start over at 20%. It's simple, but effective, and keeps you wanting to come back every day. The prospector kept customers coming back every day, the puppy won't.

Whatever Frontier does it must have a streak continuation reward. I realize that RL is on a "balancing" kick right now because they believe rewards are too easily gained, but resetting back to Day 1 every week is not a solution.
