I'm fast approaching level 30 (at 28) and I am a little worried I'm doing something wrong.
Naturally, as I've progressed, I've seen drops go from mostly green to mostly blue, to some purple, and a mix of all 3...but no gold/yellow.
I'm not currently active in the Dark Zone as my ps plus has lapsed and I haven't renewed it yet.
My question is do you ever see gold drops, weapons specifically, in the regular game?
If so, are they only found if you replay missions on Hard?
Are they only found in incursions?
Or will I need to get back in the Dark Zone if I want to get even a low level (163?) gold drop?
I have one story mission left, the Russian consulate, and as I said I'm almost at level 30. The thing is I also feel like I'm doing something wrong because my DPS, health, skill numbers still feel low for what will be the end of the game in the regular play.
When I look on You Tube and see people with dozens of gold weapons, rocking 250,000 DPS on Vector etc...and 70k-100k health and very high skill I think to myself A) Is it possible to get that strong outside the DZ and B) If it is, what's the best way to get there?
I play solo and I've done a couple of missions replayed on Hard, the hospital, napalm and Lincoln tunnel, and have ended up with right muggy gloves or knee pads that are weaker than what I already have.
So, guys, any advice or information would be helpful.
1) Can I earn gold weapons/loot playing the "campaign" (Hard?) from bosses etc...?
2) If I can't, is that because the DZ is where you find that stuff?
3) If I can, how do I optimise my playtime for best results?
4) Once I hit level 30 does weapon/loot progression end, effectively answering question 2 in relation to the DZ?
Phew!!!!!
Sorry to waffle on, but I wanted to be specific in hopes of some specific answers.
Thanks, guys. 😆
You need to hit level 30 first. Once you do that here is a quick handy guide to gearing up:Originally Posted by RhinoCharging Go to original post
Run the General Assembly mission on Hard mode. This mission has 2 bosses that will drop a HE item post 30 and the helicopter boss drops 4 purples. Rinse and repeat
Run the 2 daily Hard mode missions. Again the boss in each will drop an HE item and you will start to earn Phoenix credits
Once you hit GS ~140+ you can start to do the daily challenge missions which reward a HE item from the boss as well as another HE item as a mission reward + more Phoenix credits
Save up your PxC (Phoenix credits) until you can afford a 182 blueprint for the weapon of your choice
This should jump you up to around GS ~160+
Hope this helps!!
The people you see on youtube most likely glitched the incursion and stacked gear to get their numbers that high. Just run the hard mode missions and you will get yellows from the bosses. DZ is where you can get yellows fast but the trade off is anyone can kill you and take your stuff before its extracted. Again just stick with hard mode missions.
Thanks, I'm going to try that.Originally Posted by Sub122 Go to original post
Do you think I'll be strong enough though?
My max DPS, juggling everything for the best average, is 25k primary (blue First wave M1A) and 31k secondary (purple FAL), with my health a 41k and skull at 10.3k.
Yes, I know the glitching and stuff skews ant real comparisonOriginally Posted by db_Hooligan_db Go to original post
What platform do you play on? If you're on PS4 I would be glad to help out!Originally Posted by RhinoCharging Go to original post
I don't remember specifics, but when my first character hit 30, I was in all purples with about 60k DPS and 30k health, I think (it was long before GS was introduced, they were just 'level 30-31 purples'). I thought it was gonna be rough getting anywhere near the dudes talking about their 150-200k DPS, 70k health etc. I've still never been in the DZ or done the incursion, but running Hard and Challenge modes, it's relatively easy, if fairly time-consuming, to get to 180ish GS with 150k DPS and 60k health. I haven't bothered playing in a week or so, but that's a rough average of what I have across my 3 level 30 dudes from memory.
Basically, don't sweat it. If you want good gear, get to 30 first, then work on it a bit and you'll get it.
