Ubisoft has this new thing apparently where they think people will be playing their games 3, 6 months or a year from now. Since when does interest in a game last that long.....for anyone (besides maybe a few in the history of gaming?). When you release a statement prior to the game's release saying "players won't be short on things to do", you are saying in effect, that it is already a concern for you as a developer. Your concerns turned out to be completely valid. Based on DLC plans. they honestly must believe that players will still be involved and interested in their game a year from now. No. way. Again no. way. The game is already becoming, and will definitely be, all but forgotten about within 6 months or a year. Most people who I know who owned the game have already either returned it (and learned an important lesson about season passes) or have simply moved onto or back to other games. Obviously, they are stretching for as much money out of the game as possible, but this approach is simply delusional and not as tricky as they think. They did the same with Siege....and oh the poor people who bought that season pass. Is anyone even still playing Siege? Get real Ubisoft--about everything you do. Just get real and start releasing full, polished games from the start. Uncharted 4 is releasing tomorrow and I guarantee it won't come with any sort of delusional expectations that players will still be playing it in a year.
Like I said, yes there are a few.Originally Posted by DocSoCal Go to original post
There are a lot more than a few but in your rush to use some hyperbole you forgot.Originally Posted by HOPPER_34 Go to original post
I gave you two very recent examples to illustrate that modern games CAN INDEED have that long of a life and developers are clearly thinking that way with larger games.
So, WTF are you going on about?
Yep a zillion folks said the same thing about Destiny over and over and over again. The game is already becoming, and will definitely be, all but forgotten about within 6 months or a year.
How did that work out?
Sure The Division needs work but so do the repetitive, grandstanding, hyperbole laden, over the top posts of the torch and pitchfork crew.
Luckily I am here to help.
Destiny only survived because of his good PvP mainly. More than half of the player base plays Destiny only for PvP. Also they saved Destiny by adding good content into the game, like the raids. But what Ubisoft does is, they only add uninteresting and unenjoyable things to the game. That's not how you keep a game alive.Originally Posted by DocSoCal Go to original post
A Few lol
Bad company 1 I played more than 2 years
Bad company 2 more than 3 years
Day Z 2 years +
Arma 2/3 about 2 years
GTA V 2 years
Destiny 2 years (still playing)
Battlefield BC Vietnam 3 years
Battlefield 3 2 years +
Battlefield 4 2 years approx.
Battlefield 2 modern combat (servers went down approx. 2 years ago ) that was a PS2 game lol
Elder scroll (Tamriel unlimited 2 years)
Oblivion 1 year +
heck those are ones just off the top of my head, there are literally 100's of games that last more than 2 years let alone just 1
Bad Company 1... what a game.... Still one of the best stories ever with a group of fictional characters written so well you actually care about them.Originally Posted by Crazy-46 Go to original post
Umm yea well if it is a decent game you bet. I played WoW for close to 3 years. Oblivion I played on both the console and the PC and on the PC down loaded a ton of player mods. GTA V I have also played on both platforms and have played the PvE game through at least 4 times plus a lot of on-line with friends.
Those are just a few off the top of my head. I finished Division PvE weeks ago, I have not, nor do I intend to start an alt or play it through again. I have stopped playing it altogether and the only reason I come here is the slim hope that they will actually fix the darn thing.
You know WTF Im going on about, because you just read it. You're here to help what? You helped nothing but to make me understand that you have a different opinion. Whoop-de ****. Congrats on your support of the game you love so much. Woohoo for whoever you are! That what you wanted? Ubisoft will reward you for your "help" I'm sure--maybe a trophy or medal. even. Get back to me when you're still playing THIS game in a year ok? And enjoy the simple-minded, unending, repetition that Ubisoft has provided for you in the meantime.Originally Posted by DocSoCal Go to original post
