How do you determine your real DPS?

I've always wondered if the accuracy stat on mods really increases your DPS.
My guess would be no, so what I'm wondering is why does weapon mods increase your DPS when it boost accuracy and how do you determine what your actual DPS is.

They gave us a shooting range for a reason.

I have been using it since day 1 and have tested every weapon/gear combo I have ever come across to determine my actual damage output.

You can also do testing in the DZ with two teams of 2 (1 extra player for the revive per team).

You can test on npc's in challenge modes as well.

I used the shooting range day one of release as well and when I shot it no damage numbers showed up.

That's not DPS either, that's damage per bullet. Guns like snipers shoot like one shot per second but SMGs and ARs shoot multiple bullets a second.

Hi Brian, my name is Doc,

Take your damage per shot at range times rounds per minute of the firearm divided by sixty.

Shazam... actual damage per second less some minor discrepancies for mag size and reload speed.

I'm not sure it's damage per bullet. The numbers pop up a few times per second. In the case of snipers it gives a reading for every bullet, but for automatic weapons it probably groups the damage readings together.

I seem to get much higher dps than shown in the inventory. Especially with headshot bonuses and the stability of my weapon making it a headshot laser sometimes. I think the dps rating is for body shots and doesn't seem to take into account critical hits/damage.

    I usually do this:
(Rounds Per Minute (RPM)/60) * (per bullet DMG) = Damage Per Second (DPS)

This is the reason why I test all my mods in the shooting range. Don't trust the DPS stat in game.
