Critical Hit Chance % & Critical Hit Damage vs. DPM

I've got a ton of attachments in my backback and storage, and I'm trying to find the best combination to add to a 182 Enhanced AUG A3P with Brutal, Self Preserved, and Determined. The AUG is technically my Secondary in this particular "kit."

The best DPS I can manage right now, given my gear, is 225,280 DPS. That's running a 4 piece Sentry set, along with Striker gloves, and a gold piece of chest armor with the Reckless talent.

Now...the attachments I have on the AUG are as follows:
Rugged mini reflex site: 20.5% Accuracy and 20.5% Headshot Damage
Extended Magazine: 97% Magazine Size and 27% Rae of Fire
Small Grip - Red: 20.0% Accuracy and 35.5% Initial Bullet Stability
Flash Hider - 21.5% Accuracy and 35.5% Initial Bullet Stability

The "Character" tab states that currently the AUG has a +24.50% Critical Hit Chance. This goes along with Critical Hit Damage of +60%, and Headshot Damage of +201%. I also have an All Weapons Damage Bonus of +13%, but I have no idea what influences that whatsoever (any help would be appreciated).

Now...I have some attachments that increase critical hit damage or % chance, but they seem to uniformly lower my DPS. I have two sights that both increase accuracy, and either increase critical hit chance, or critical hit damage. I also have some magazines that do the same. But again, they both almost uniformly lower my DPS.

I guess what I'm saying is... What am I looking for? What am I sacrificing versus gaining when I swap out DPS for critical hit related stat rolls? What exactly IS a critical hit? Are there specific manners in which to achieve these, or are they random? What's a critical hit do?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Accuracy is inflating your DPS number. You are better off trading out accuracy for crit chance/crit damage for a true DPS increase instead of sheet DPS.

The 13% all weapon damage is from the reckless chest piece.

Agreed, ditch the accuracy and do what Monster suggests, your sheet dps (which means absolutely nothing) will plummet but your actual dps (damage dealt in game) will increase considerably. To show how it works i will presume you have the shooting range unlocked in your base of ops replace the accuracy mods one by one and shoot the faces of the dummy targets and see the difference.

Go to the shooting range in BoO,and test all your mods-or watch some videos

copy paste from an excel sheet i threw together
10k base damage vector w/ 40 shot magazine (100% increase)
Rows = CHC, Columns = CHD
    --------- 50% - 100% - 150% - 175% - 200% - 250%
    07% 414000 428000 442000 449000 456000 470000
    14% 428000 456000 484000 498000 512000 540000
    21% 442000 484000 526000 547000 568000 610000
    28% 456000 512000 568000 596000 624000 680000
    35% 470000 540000 610000 645000 680000 750000
    42% 484000 568000 652000 694000 736000 820000
    50% 500000 600000 700000 750000 800000 900000
    58% 516000 632000 748000 806000 864000 980000

It's all basic math (i.e. 50% increase in CHD (e.g. 100->150%) is the same increase as a 50% increase in CHC (e.g. 14->21%) (see bolds and italics)

but the point is you see diminishing returns once you get into the higher numbers.

keep in mind above post assumes you hit every shot. which never happens. also assumes that a 40 shot magazine with 50% CH-Chance will always be 20 shots of normal damage, and 20 shots of crit. again, not how it happens with RNG, but for a rough estimate, it's a guide.

my main point was to remind myself that getting my CH-Damage from 200->250% was not nearly as important as getting my CH-Chance from 25-50%

To add on: It's better to have all yours mods w/ CHC/CHD/HSD....yes, that also includes the magazine. You WILL have a lower DPS, no doubt, but you'll see the difference for yourself when you test it out on mobs or players.

Accuracy is only for sniper rifles. Accuracy ONLY helps your initial shot. After that, it's all based on stability. Accuracy and Head Shot Damage both inflate your numbers to insane amounts and only belong with a marksman build. ARs and SMGs REALLY need to stack stability, Crit Chance, and Crit Damage.

As it looks with your build, it may say you're doing 220k DPS, but if you remove the items that inflate your numbers such as accuracy and HS damage, both of which don't actually increase any sort of damage unless you are constantly hitting the head, you may be doing only 100k DPS or possibly lower in true damage.

This is awesome. You wouldn't happen to have this on Google sheets, would you? I'd love to plug in some of my own weapons and see what's what.

I want to thank everyone for their responses, it's been very informative. After some screwing around with both weapons mods and some gear, I've gotten my critical hit chance up to 37%, and my critical hit damage to 93%, while maintaining a 201% headshot damage bonus. Curious to know the impact that has on my AUG with a stated base damage of 11.4K and a 47 round mag.

The base damage are just 'hits' you don't crit with. Do body shots on the dummies and you'll see.
