Will it be possible to find a player online in a month?
A bit scared![]()
It very well could if 1.2 doesn't bring in new life. I haven't played in a week, but I turned it on this morning and couldn't get motivated. Don't get me wrong, I loved this game up until last week, but there is nothing for me to do anymore. I want to play this game again, but I find myself over all the repetiveness.
On the verge of preordering overwatch. My friends and I have switched to playing the beta, and having a blast. Ubi has no choice to step it up, and I really hope they do.
I think it'll start picking up popularity once they start addressing the initial issues. I think this was a system shock initially due to some bad decisions early on. However, they have been working towards fixing them. Although the initial reputation will hurt for awhile, it'll probably start to get better over time. Massive has a lot of work ahead of them, however. I'd say, it's a sudden drop early on, but a slow gain over the next few months once it finds its balance. It'll probably never hit the initial hype but be enough to stick around for awhile. My best advice to the decision makers is to do some research and learn from other people's mistakes. The majority of the issues that caused the crash are basic 101 design in the modern gaming industry that were completely ignored.
1. Never do majority client-side on a multiplayer title (due to cheating possibilities).
2. Never have true RNG in a loot based game (there's just too many factors that causes the majority of loot to be trash). You need "smart" or "logical" RNG.
3. Nip exploits in the bud. Fix them as soon as possible, and make a clear statement that exploiting is not tolerated. After fair warning, eliminate any exploit gains. Probate where necessary. (When you allow exploiting, the game turns into legitimate players vs non-legitimate players. Human nature dictates that the majority of people will take the path of least resistance. Once you have a great number of people with non-legitimate goods, but you're not removing them, you're forced to completely re-design your gameplay balance to reflect that reality. The problem is, legitimate players suffer and will leave, and you're left with a game that's almost impossible to balance, especially for newcomers.)
