[PC] Spam Blocking (For ppl with broken chat)

    Hey guys

First off! if you are having in-game chat issues I have now discovered that this can in most cases be solved by deleting your ignore list document, I'll explain where to find it further down this post

So this is basically a small tip for those who have a broken in-game chat, the one where you are not able to use the drop-down menu when right clicking a player's name

One of the main problems with this issue is that we are not able to /ignore those *BIIIP!*, *BIIIP!* *BIIIP!* *BIIIPING!* *BIIIPS!* (excuse my language) spammers , but here is a way to do it anyway and this will also help /ignore the spammers that makes use of the trick where you can't even click their names

First thing you need to do it go to this folder on your computer:

    C: \ Users \ <user name> \ Documents \ My Games \ Tom Clancy's The Division \

Inside the folder you'll find a text document called "IgnoreList", before you do anything else, make a backup copy of this file, just in case.

Next in-game what you want to do is start by hitting enter to open the chat, then left-click on the name of the player in the chat that you want to ignore, this should paste the name of the player into the chat field, if you then right-click the same name in the chat it should automatically high-light the name pasted into your chat field (or you can just manually click and drag the mouse marker to high-light the name), you can then use Ctrl+C to copy the name (or use Ctrl+X to remove it from the chat field).

Paste the player name on to a temporary document and close your game.

Next go to the original "IgnoreList" text document and open it up, now you can paste the name into the document and manually add it to your list of ignored players.

But, the list is arranged alphabetically so to be on the safe side I'd advise people to make sure any names added manually are also following this rule.

With regards to the problem with players using the trick where you can't click their names, to add these people to your ignore list you can simply manually type in their names on your list and the next time you load your game they will be blocked from view

    IMPORTANT!

Most documents like this can be a bit flaky, so the safest way to save manual changes made to them is to NOT use the "Save" or "Save As..." features, instead just click on the X in the top right corner to close the document and when asked if you would like to save the changes, select "Yes" / "Save", this should insure that the format of the document is correct.

Also, don't save the document until after you have logged out of the game, as the list will update once you do and if you made the changes before logging out, they will be wiped, infact I will advise people not to make any changes to the document while the game is still running!

    A couple more important notes:

It would seem that there is a limit to the amount of players you can have on your ignore and the limit is 200, if you just like me saw no other choice but to block out players who only write in for example asian lettering, (not for any racial reason, but simply to keep the chat manageable with the game not having any regional server setup) you will quickly reach that 200 player limit, now (and this is important) when you hit that 200 limit your chat is very likely to break and I actually believe this to be the main culprit for the broken chat.

Please be aware that changes made to the document are in most case not taking effect until the game has been reloaded and also players added to the ignore list in-game will not show on the list until you exit the game.

I hope this info might help other people dealing with the chat problem and I would appreciate any feedback on this also doing the trick of fixing the issue for anyone else

    Best regards
    Eziras

Thought the whole broken part were the names where you couldn't click on them to have them display. Like that IllIIlIlIIl- guy,

That's only one of the problems

And for anyone having problems with the spamming of that guy, this is the name you should add to your "IgnoreList" document:

    lllllliiililli-

It should work at least until he / she changes name

    Btw I just realized this:

It would be easier if they build in a timeout if you post to much in the chat box in X period of time. Spamming will happen, only if Massive just acts against it it could become a lot less.

lol, just popped in today after a 2 week layoff the game....Same wankers promoting that fraudsters website for powerlevelling (don't go there guys you'll get scammed).....

So, exactly the same as last time I was logged in 2 weeks ago....

For **** sake Ubi and Massive - do something about it. It would take 20 seconds to remove these spam and scammers from the game.....

Back in a month to see if things have improved....we honestly need a refund ability. I'd rather just be done with it and uninstall but would like compensated (that'll never happen I know).....

Your companies (both Ubi and Massive) and the people working within them will suffer in the future....You can bet a large majority of disgruntled players will be checking or future titles, who is working for them to see if the same people will be running the future freak shows like The Division is today.....

    Garbage.
