I really love the game but i'm about to leave it because the core design of rewards is so messed up that i don't dare to believe the developers will change it in a way it should be changed to succeed. The heart of it:
Dropped items treat every player to have the same level.
If you enter DZ, if you play a challenging mission, if you run for supply drops, if you kill any boss: there are NO DYNAMICS regarding the quality of the drops.
This is proof for the designers to have a total lack of understanding loot based games. Like in any other game (yeah, even in The Division!) it would make much more sense to oriantate the drops on the gear level of the PLAYER. Why? because it will REWARD him!
What would happen:
First:
Motivation. There will be a REWARD for your gaming. If i understood the latest nerf in crafting correctly, the 'designers' wanted to avoid the crafting system to be the only source of items used in the game. Mission failed: there ARE no other items that are USEFUL! For me and many others there is no FUN grinding places that only deliver crafting material. And even after crafting an item you receive something you don't need at all. The item drop should at least orientate on the players gear set.
Second:
DZ dynamics would make much more sense. Even to go rogue on an high-level player would really be a challenge. If he gots loot with him, you have a guarantee it will be also be items with a high gear score on them. So chasing high level players would be a motivation for any low level group.
One more thing has to be changed: you find it in this forums over and over again - allow MORE than just ONE change of item talents. I just left the incursion with an item of high gear score. This item is TOTALLY messed up. i mean TOTALLY. I can change ONE perk? This is ridiculous! I have to wait one more week to get something like this again...how do you believe my motivation will keep up with mechanics like this?
Really. I LOVE the game. But more and more i just love the POTENTIAL of it and not what the 'designers' do with it. I fail to have fun even with that positive attitude. There is something wrong. I put HOURS in that game and it fails to reward me by any means.
So please stop hyperventilating and start to CORRECT this messed up loot mechanics...there are still players left. And the changes would not be impossible to integrate.
Thank you.
You are right, it's a bit boring when you have a gs210 to keep receiving 163 or 182 gs items. At least we should be able to make a sort of "trade up contract" and to give 20 or 50 level 31 items to get a level 32, or something like that...
I can unterstand it's normal not to collect 36 gear score 204 weapons in one hour, but it should happend sometimes, and it never happend. At last it never happened to me, and i'm in the top 5 players EU in the category "playing time".
I'm not quite sure on this one. You can play different specializations in the game. Dropping the same item just rewards the players who regard this item to be useful on their build.Originally Posted by Adzzy Go to original post
I think it's heavily important to have drops follow the gear set level of a player and attend to his overall gear specialization.
Brilliant idea. Works on other games like a charme. No negative side effects.Originally Posted by yclick Go to original post

+ the tediousness of running the same 4 bland challenges or grinding kiills in the darkzone
+ the expense and lousy chance of crafting a worthwhile item
+ the lack of mob, boss and weapon variety
= Zero motivation to play
And thats before you start to bring the games myriad of bugs, exploits and pc hacking into the equation... I've now less than zero motivation to put the disc into my console . I've spent more time discussing its many flaws on here than I have playing it.
That's what I've said numerous times. When you craft a gun, you should have the power of deciding talents to it.. Ffs, you created the item with your own hand. But Ubi/Massive logic is that it's completely normal that when you create a shirt with a hood, you can end up with 2 pockets instead. Why the f*ck not?Originally Posted by Adzzy Go to original post
Would be more logical that you could choose talents but bonus values would be random. Ie. Brutal's 24% Head Shot DMG would be around 5-20% instead.
But looted guns could still remain totally random, since those were created to the NPC that had it before he ate 23424 bullets from you and died.
Haha I actually found a scope upgrade yesterday! x15 accuracy/headshot damage for mah m1a :POriginally Posted by PureNomad Go to original post
Buuuuuut other that it is indeed crap.
I would honestly increase the dz bracket levels to 180+ instead of 160+ and increase the named enemy levels from 32 to 33, 31 to 32 and 30 to 31 in the lowest DZ.
I might be a filthy optimist, but iam kinda positive that we will get a DZ upgrade in may. This current loot system makes no sense in the current state of the game and gear people use/grinded. I literally melt trough DZ06 and that solo lol...
