Back track to 3 or 4 weeks ago and about 19-20 of my 25 PSN friends were all playing the division, myself included. But with the constant bugs, glitches, exploits etc on top of the fact that this is a loot game with NO LOOT it is changing quicker than any other game I have played. I myself have put down the game and begrudgingly bought the Taken King Xpac for Destiny and I am having a lot of fun. Now I like the gameplay and environment of the Division better than Destiny, but here is what makes Destiny fun: I have a ton of **** to do and I get rewarded for doing it.
My last straw with the division is when i was on wave 15 a few days ago of the challenging incursion. Now I have beat it legit on challenging many times. It isnt hard, its just the most BORING content I have ever played in a video game. But I was trudging through it to get another shot at a decently rolled 240 piece. And at wave 12 a team members sound went out (thanks massive for this bug) so we frantically switched to PSN voice chat. We would have been using it earlier but PSN was dropping people for some reason. We manage to stay alive through this. Then at wave 13 my other friend gets an error and is booted out of the game. The PS4 blue screen of death. He gets it playing no other game than the division. We manage to survive that too till he gets back in. Then at wave 15 I do a roll in the pit to get out of an APC blast radius and BOOM I am hit with a loading screen and get ported to the nearest safe house. WTF. So my team gets overwhelmed before I can get back in and we wipe. I ejected the disc and haven't put it back in since.
I can honestly say I have never played a AAA title this broken on a code level. And it is so sad because the game is fun and good at its foundation but with so many balance problems, bugs, exploits etc it is completely miserable to play at the moment.
BUT...
Even if all these bugs and glitches and exploits were fixed and even never happened the game is still fundamentally broken at its core. Why? Because as I said before it is a loot game with NO LOOT. I dont know wtf massive was thinking (if at all) when they decided to tell us they wanted the best loot to be from drops and then proceed to nerf the living piss out of crafting and then make all the names bosses in the DZ drop 163s with the rare chance of a 182 and an even rarer chance of a 191 or 214 set piece and still put all the 204 gear pieces in as blueprints. On top of that the absolute highest GS loot isnt even a drop. Its a once a week reward. ALL of these changes seem to go 100% against their statement of the best loot being from fighting enemies in the game. It is absolutely mind boggling.
I have a ton of ways I can still improve my gear even at my current gear score of 212 but the chances I can do this are far less than 1% with the layers of RNG stacked on each other like a brick **** house. THERE IS NOTHING TO DO THAT IS OR FEELS REWARDING IN THIS GAME. IE:
DZ is all crafting material farming to roll overpriced blueprints that have a 99% chance to roll badly.
INCURSION is a 45 min to an hour long snooze fest to have a 214 drop or a 240 once a week reward have a 99% chance to roll badly.
Challenge mode missions have a chance to drop a 182 that will again probably roll badly.
99% of the stuff that gets rolled at the base of operations vendor is garbage as well.
Im capped out on Pheonix credits because they are a worthless currency now. Im rank 99 in the DZ and have had my fill of farming for useless mats for their RNG crapfest slot machine and going rogue is only fun for so long.
And dont say that I got capped out too fast. Gear score isnt near as relevant in this game as so many people try to cry and say it is. A guy that is 180+ with great rolls will wreck a guy that is 210+ with **** rolls. Even if I was a lower gear score I would be in the exact same position I am now. And don't even get me started on how unbalanced so many talents and weapons are in this game. But knowing these terrible, short sighted, knee jerk reaction behaving devs at Massive, they will "rebalance" the weapons by nerfing the piss out of SMGs and Marksman rifles instead of buffing the LMG's, AR's and shottys to be competitive... thus making these no mechanic bullet sponge NPC's even spongier.
BACK TO WHAT THIS IS DOING:
My friends list is mostly playing Destiny or COD. I myself am playing Destiny again since quitting over a year ago as are 80% of my friends I played the division with. Three of them bought Destiny tonight to play with us. They are people who never had any interest in the game before now.
1.2 will either bring people back if done right or put the last nail in the coffin for me and most of my friends. If Massive ****s this up like they did with 1.1 the game is doomed. Their DLC will NEVER sell like they hope. They are on the thinnest of ice now.
And i've bougth the season pass , I think when the first paid dlc releases the dz will become a desertOriginally Posted by Monster_M4yhem2 Go to original post
I've been saying this since week 2... my 'friends now playing' list is emptier than The Divisions end game content.
If I didn't know better, I'd think BUNGiE orchestrated it all as a cunning plan to get people playing Destiny again... We'll get our friends over at Ubisoft to create a game that promises the world, only make it so unbelievably hollow and broken its playerbase will come running back to us with open arms.
Massive/Ubisoft may eventually salvage the game (its going to take lots of effort to do at this point), but at this late stage their reputation is unfixable.
I'm concerned too. My destiny clan (about 300 members split across four destiny tags) came to the division in large numbers when it released. Naturally a good percentage went back to destiny with its update. But just two weeks ago there were still 20-30 putting significant time into playing division. This week I never saw more than three playing.
I'm hoping it's a combination of iron banner and that we are dads and just have other stuff to do besides play games. We will see.
I had two disc's of The Division one for me and one for my partner. We loved the game to start with into we hit end game when we noticed how badly the game is broken so she quit into they fix it but since i loved the game was so hyped from when they first announced the making of this game i decided to carry on playing after weeks of torment and disappointment with each hotfix they role out and felt more and more frustrated with the game and its's developers i done something i have never done before and smashed one of The Division disc to pieces to then look down at all the little fragments and think to myself what have i done... then realise that it was less broken now then the content inside the disc.
