What does everyone think about large scale side op missions?

Maybe apart from the 4-player coop campaign there could be large scale side missions across the map. Where you could have lobbies with 4-16 players working together to accomplish various objectives across the map, that could increase the life-span of the game. Larger scale coop missions could add a more cooperative and realistic feel where you could have four squads of four doing various tasks like having a heli-team, sniper team, armor-team, all working together kind of like an arma style of cooperative play. there could be a certain amount of these side ops on release and more could be added throughout the games duration, overall just an idea.

I think this could be good for an end game feature. A really hard mission co-op needing 16 players that is available every month. Completion earns new weapon/camo/kit etc.

Well, we had large scale co-op back in the days before Future Soldier so of course I'd like to see something like this as an option. Large scale co-op campaign missions were where a lot of my most favored memories from GRAW and GRAW2 came from. I would understand if it's not possible due to scale and everything but, yeah, I'd like to see that as an option. Give it more of that Clear and Present Danger feel to some of the missions.

I spent most of the time on PvP of course, but I would like to see it as the larger co-op and PvP were the same thing. Same maps and game engine with lobbies and hosting etc. It's one reason why I can't understand the negativity from some towards PvP - if you get PvP you get the door opened for more than 4 man co-op and potentially even a mission editor. It would be fantastic to let players have an entire open world to create missions in.
Yea a mission editor would be sweet especially if we could create missions with various objectives that friends and other players could enjoy, plus user content would increase the lifespan of the game. Overall I hope the game includes large scale coop missions like in GRAW 2!

Only if those 10+ spots can be filled with AI and it makes sense storywise.

You mean like the old platoon system?

In terms of making it work storyline wise I'd imagine you'd just do it the way that it was done in GR2/SS/GRAW where the Ghosts operated as a full ODA team - one where the games revolved around a small team of four but with multiple teams doing other things elsewhere. The intro to this mission in SS kind of talks about this:

Basically the way I see it you operate normally as a small team but on occasion there will be larger ops that require the full team to complete in the style of the large scale co-op missions from GRAW/GRAW2. Makes sense to me anyway.

I would much rather have side missions that are relevant. I don't want anything like races or that kind of thing.

. . . Honestly, after thinking about this for a few weeks, I'm not a fan. It's hard enough to get four players who enjoy different play styles to all pull in the same direction; my greatest worry (other than the requisite poor-execution concerns) is that my friends and I will quit playing this game half-way through for the same reason we quit playing Payday 2: my brother and I will want to use reconnaissance and stealth to accomplish an objective with a minimal amount of fuss, but our friends Kyle and Kris will complain loudly into our headsets because they equate "avoiding unnecessary gunfights" with "avoiding fun." The last thing I need to add to that equation is another dozen randoms from the Internet who each have their own unique ideas about what it takes to be a team-player.
