My initial reaction to this statement (which I also posted on Reddit):
The question now is whether this all came too late. It's great to see Massive FINALLY have a concrete statement in place about the hacking and exploiting, but this really should've been in place on Day 1, not Day 60 or 70. I have not seen many games suffer the sort of negative fan feedback or press coverage that The Division has faced. And simply saying that your game is "complex" and "we can't find all the bugs" is not going to appease many in the community right now (I.e. anyone still playing in the community).
Now [Massive's] "war for the hearts and minds" [of the Division community] shifts to Update 1.2 and to the first DLC. If they don't release something short of a masterpiece for either (or both), then they might as well cut their losses and prepare the marketing hype for Division 2 (or for the VR port of Division).
Sorry if this comes off as salty or cynical. I'm just tired of seeing the broken promises and half truths that have plagued The Division since its Beta.
--------------------------
The biggest mistake that Ubisoft AND Massive have made in regards to this game is that they have failed to properly communicate their intentions to their fanbase in a timely manner.
I mentioned this in one of Sxyhxy's streams when we were talking about the crafting changes, but I am going to repeat it here because it's quite relevant to this thread as well:
"If the Devs had simply told us the whole story in the first place, they could have avoided the sh*tstorm that followed."
From my understanding they took the blame for leaving the bugs that where exploited, didn't react in a timely matter and the rules where not clear enough.Originally Posted by Agent.Potato Go to original post
So basically incursion glitchers are safe.
In the future new exploits and glitches will be marked as exploitable and you will (or might be) punished after abuse.
So basically everybody hat did not exploit the crap out of the incursion is screwed for the next one ? Yeah thanks for nothing ubi.Originally Posted by Tha Real Cuber Go to original post
Of course not, they would loose major part of the player base instantly. And that if anything looks bad on a record. This wouldn't be the case if there would have been even the worst possible AC to begin with, but no. Sh*t has already hit the fan.Originally Posted by subpeo Go to original post
Only proper and viable way to save their faces would be re-release. But they won't, they don't have the balls to do it.
Yes, it would seriosly hurt those who play legit, but in the long run it would be the best choice to do. (somewhat) clean slate to start over. And work from it. Those who likes or even loves this game, they'll come around. I would do it happily. IMO it would be smaller loss to legit players than what glitchers/ hackers have profited from this mess.
It's only a matter or will to admit that Ubi/Massive tried to play us for fools and pay the price for it. And then make things work. Would earn back some respect and credibility in my eyes at least.
Given their track record, how could you have expected anything else?Originally Posted by Diedel443 Go to original post
The thing is that i am not only worried about the balanced, but this shows that, as long as it is not on "the list", you can exploited the crap out of whatever you found without any fear.Originally Posted by Arsenic_Touch Go to original post
