Would you look at that, it was incompetence all along.

Gotta say I found it very suspicious when noticing extreme amounts of lag when joining other groups and literally 0 lag when hosting my own. Ubi's complete incompetence in networking is why we will have to simply live with a completely broken hacker-filled Division.

I'm done with this game, take care folks!

There is no such thing as "Veteran Network Coder"

Those things change every day... i'm a former scripter for old mmo games .... i don't even try to understand what's behind a big game such The Division in terms of coding ...
could be (probably is due to Snowdrop Engine) something completly new.

I like the game, i still see many great things in it ... the only thing bothering me and pissing me off is the lack in comunication about what they are doing what they are planning and where are the problem (so we know that they know)

it was informative analysis nonetheless by that "veteran coder".
It really does baffles me why such implementation decisions was overlooked by senior devs, considering they belong to the same ubisoft umbrella with asscreed and watchdog, which for me had done great effort in terms of netcode.

There is great potential in the game, and everything can be fixed one way or another, but question is if Ubisoft is willing to take the major step to do the work.

Here is the deal. As customers we deserve transparency so that we can have trust for the developer, and for the future of the game we invest in. It is a product, and a service at the same time, where any customer has a right for fair service with reasonable expectancy to have it last in some distant future, not just end after a year.

What Ubisoft should do is just that - be transparent. They need to respond to this with honesty and say what they will do do address the issue. Also engine itself has nothing to do with networking, it is what Ubisoft is facing in all of it's game. Rainbow Six siege suffers from same issues. As do all of their online multiplayer games. They are lacking experience, and hence are making mistakes that these veterans have already experienced, and know to avoid. Fact is, if they made the system to be based on client-driven data, we are in a big trouble if they cannot make the servers to confirm all of that data.

If they cannot assure customers and those that invest in the game, it's DLC's and additional content with real money, then it begs the question if we are taking knowing risk or would we face a situation where the game is unplayable because of cheaters that cannot be stopped. Who is responsible? Not the customers atleast, as we have reasonable reason to expect for a fair service that we are paying for. So, transparency is needed to create new trust for the games future. I am not sure why it is so difficult for these companies to own up to their mistakes, hunker down and get to the work.

Incomptence of the devs and blatant lies from management:

We are aware of the cheating issues in the closed beta on PC. The team is fully committed to providing solutions against this and a system will be in place to ensure a fair experience for players when the game is released on March 8.

    Want to read something special?

    https://www.reddit.com/r/thedivision..._from_similar/

Far Cry 3 PC was made by Massive.

They have / had the EXACT same hacker issues. It's not like Maasive learned any lessons there.
It was never solved as well... so much for PC players getting their hopes up.

Uhm .. it IS a fair experience Everyone gets to cheat if they want to

Just kidding ... just kidding ... I think.

Fairfight is one of the best out there. Not sure why they don't use it. It's completely compatible with the game. AND customization galore! Like ... one of the things it can scan for is head-shots, but as a dev I'd deactivate that in a game like this because anyone playing a Marksman and NOT getting a ton of head-shots - well - they should not be playing a Marksman then. BUT it can EASILY scan for RPM, running speed, teleports, reloading vs. rounds fired (to catch the "unlimited ammo cheats), etc.

What I find quite fun in this is that Ubi 2016 thinks professionalism is keeping information and routines behind closed doors, that We should settle with taking a employees word on that they are doing something instead of showing a roadmap on where their focus is at the moment and maybe interview the lead dev..

On PC We have become so used to being involved in games evolvement with Early Access games and especially modding communities, several games and mods where you are in direct contact with the Devs on the forums.

But my guess is that they have painted themselves into a corner with this Console engine and simply don´t know what to do now so that´s why they hide like they do and let a few poor CM´s take the hits..

Of course there is such a thing as a "Veteran Network Coder." Veteran is merely a time based word, another way of saying this person has spent many years being a network coder.

    1. Be skeptical of any mainstream Gaming "News" service. (cough Gamergate) Most gaming news companies take money to give good press, and take money to write articles slamming rivals.

    2. Be aware that there is a large-scale hate-on The Division. eg mutliple news services running stories about the game being broken because apparently we all get stuck in every doorway... apparently. Happened on day 1, run as a news story across over 10 gaming news networks.

    3. Lots of us are still having fun thank you very much.

    4. Im DZ rank 60 now, and Ive seen less than 5 cheaters on PC. Grow up ffs.

    5. Half the people on this forum have authority/daddy issues.

    Have a nice day
