Ubi/Massive time to put on the ”thinking cap” and do some salvage and damage control,

    First,
I do like this game and put a decent amount of play-time into it.

I will also (as little as this is “worth”) mention I been a gamer for 30 years and do analyses/development as my ”food ticket”.

    -

With one patch 21/4 and now one today 28/4 reading the patch notes with seven solid days of grief in between and the lack of shop on the issues that now gone from the small media outlets to the big ones, I believe the ”bean counters” focus on revenue this second and there lack of ability to see visions and future revenues have laid down the current path which is a disastrous one IMO.

    Why you might ask,
The stance or in this case lack of stance which also is a choice with repercussions that are hurting the game/company and also most likely the current/future revenues, my self money in hand for season pass for me and kids but not so likely in the current state of affairs.

Also there seams to be this ”let it be and it will go away” and it will not hurt the console sales.
That is not entirely true, me for instance with me paying for those ps3/ps4 assassins series and buying for first in a long time a Ubi title for PC, see it as slim to non chance any more getting into this house of those/other titles.

Down the road players will remember this handling or lack of it, the future.

A very easy and quick remedy to start the reputation salvage would be,
I wrote this before but I do it again, and the personal costs for this is probably absolutely nothing compared to the costs now/to come.

Start to actually look at the reported players stats, and the function to watch/spectator seams to be pretty available and could if not already done so to watch those named players and the videos of them.

If you do not have it, implement a feature to log the time it takes to complete a mission, if done in half possible time go figure.

Then make an announcement when you reach 100 banned/closed accounts and the same for the next 100 and so on in a way that can not be missed When You Start the Game, or even for just every 10 closed/wiped accounts, it does not matter.
That would show that you are “on the ball”, and even the ones getting one-shoot in DZ but never visit the forums would know that something positive is happening, and leave the announcement there all time.

This alone will not stop all that cheats, but I guarantee it will make the majority in this cheat immune game think twice before buying/using those cheats and lower the cheating population perhaps to level that they do not matter as much.
This will also stem the ones on the fence now ready to jump over it, right now they are almost being forced over it to be able to develop the character in DZ and stand a chance.

    Another quick, easy fix,
Would be to make a new DZ span of +220, that would cut out for the moment lots of those with ill gotten gains and they can hack among them self until you come up with a better solution.

Another quick, easy fix to help the situation,

00.00.01 Client: I'm now outside the safehouse in DZ3

when it should have been :

00.00.01 Server: What? you can't move that fast, 1 sec ago you was in DZ6, warning for hacking and you will be disconnected in 3 sec.
There are several similar reality/reasonable checks in different areas as in the quote above that with not so much effort could be implemented on server side IMO.

Cheaters will just re-buy the game,
I see this arguments that cheaters will just re-buy the game if account gets removed.
I believe that will be true for the very few, Pavlos Dog effect and even with cheats it takes time to get that vanity look and level up on-top of the cost and doing the same thing over again in a game that you already played.

    Last,
Do not bad thought process ruin the current game and hurt current sales/future ones.

    A Concerned Player,

    SOTG (State of the game)
Will apparently be a ongoing thing on Twitch every Thursday from now on.

Regarding thoughts on cheats/hacks this can be heard around 26 min into this one in the link in the quote.

My reflections on this particular one after sitting in contract negotiations regularly for some 20 years, is that Yannick and his increase in red "colour" of cheekbones tells he is very unconformable with the situation IMO, and is there even any substance to actually be found in reality? I do hope so nevertheless of course.

    And Why O Why,
Is this on Twitch and not advertised on the main page or in the News section in the forums or as a sticky in general?

These are good suggestions, but they should start, first and foremost, to appease the general user base by minimizing the ability for players to grieve on others. There's too many angry players who are just leaving the game because of hackers in the DZ, and they're probably taking their friends with them. One possible solution for this is to (as I've suggested many times) add the option to enable or disable PvP upon entering a dark zone checkpoint. By doing this, Ubisoft and Massive will get a much needed breathing room for them to concentrate on each individual hacking issue. But any anti-hacking effort needs to begin by doing this. There is no other way, as I see it. Just read post after post in this forum of people genuinely pissed at the current state of the game. This solution will stop the aggravation of being the victim of a hacker or a ganker in one fell swoop.

    - This will allow Ubi/Massive to fix any issues without altering any of the current game mechanics or being overwhelmed with angry players.
    - This will allow players to at least be hacker-free when they're incursioning into the DZ, solo or otherwise.
    - This will allow new and old players to not get frustrated and leave because of grieving by gank squads.
    - If done properly, players could even create private or invite-only sessions and just go ape among themselves.

Something must be done to appease the masses, and I think this is a damn good start...

In WoW, as in many other MMO games, there's a PvP flag.
But the problem is that when you enter a non-friendly area (and the Dark Zone is one of them), there's always players who will want to PvP and players who won't.
And there's a lot of tricks to wipe this PvP flag, as running in front of players, so you're wounded or killed.

If i did understand (i'm not an expert in The Division's PvP), there's also a lot of legit means so a player or a group goes rogue.
And cheaters can use these legit tricks too.

Instead, I would render the Dark Zone a TOTALLY non-PvP zone, as it's crippled by cheaters and will be for at least the next two months.
Or i would grant the same looting / blueprint chances and resources for the PvE environment, so people don't have to go to the Dark Zone.

I know that the idea about the Dark Zone was great, this was a glorious dream, but as it was totally botched by Ubisoft / Massive, the staff must now adapt and try to make the best they can of this horrible situation we're all in.

For the moment, since one month, they've always made the worst decisions possible, and things got really out of hand during this period.

    @vvhorus,
As said by gt2k, good points.
But as mainly a “fps” player I do like the DZ concept and would in due time like to see a less cheat ridden one as PvP.

The 14-Day Bans on StreamerHouse Stream,
    http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...e-Stream-Today

So there are a new Sheriff Hamish in the lawless Town of “The Division DZ”,
That is real good to see and in tune with my OP. Actually this is a very good way of start the take back of the by hackers stolen reputation.
I truly do hope this will be followed by more, as this have to be done over time, kept fresh, visible and on a regularly basis to work.

I tried to find a video version of it actually happening but with no luck.

The all new “Instant Justice Served” or “Hacker Hunter's” Show on Twitch,
(a suggestion, to be broadcast/streamed at random times)
Where on regular basis the destructive and villains to the gaming community in DZ get hunted for immediate punishment on the stream, what an award winning concept it would be right there.

Personally I just only watched Twitch/streams a few times but here is a good recipe for a show that I personally would stack up with some cold drinks and a bag of popcorn in lap and run on the main-screen TV and often watch, oh the joy.

I mean what a great concept this is/would be if done more, no problems with proof hassle, it's there for every one to see with there own eyes documented and all plastered all over the screen in it's ugliness/horror.

    The “punishment”,
This is a bit on the soft side IMO, but hey this is way better with 14 days than the previous 3 days.

But I will do an analogy,
It is a bit like if a person on the economic-department of a company get caught swindling money, and when they do find this out it goes like this: -well we see you got the money, but hey you are welcome back to work on Monday in two weeks time and you get to keep what ever you did steal so you do not get sad.

    What a very “humanitarian” approach

    The best comment?

I browsed trough some of the threads in the forums and this is one comment (as a satire/humour fan?) I particularly liked.

    Last,
To butcher a very famous statement,
It is a small step for "Ubi/Massive” but a giant leap for the legit PC Division playing community.
