Game Consistantly Crashing On Find The Stone Woman Mission

The game continuously freezes/locks up during the 2nd part of the Find the Stone Woman mission, when you go down the hill and starting clubbing the bad guys. It's always locking up at this same point in the game, and I can't continue further with it.

The game freezes to a black screen while sometimes having the sound still going. I need to Ctrl-Alt-Del to get to Task Manager and kill the game. This then brings me back to the desktop.

    My setup:
    - Apple iMac (late 2015)
    - Core i7-6700K @ 4.00 GHz
    - AMD Radeon R9 M395X (AMD driver version 15.301.2101.0, dated 2/9/2016
    - 32 GB RAM
    - Windows 10 under Bootcamp

I have the most current drivers for everything, and can run other games (BF4, Borderlands 2, etc) just fine. I'm NOT running the game under Steam, but starting it from the Uplay app.

    Any help appreciated.

    Stone Woman mission game freeze

    Hi all,
Am having the exact same problem at the very same point in the game. My setup is similar, late 2015 iMac, i7, 16 Go RAM, - AMD Radeon R9 M395X, drivers up to date, also playing under Bootcamp under W8.1 Pro.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Cheers.

Please try the steps listed here and let us know if that resolves the issue. Thanks!

Same problem here. It seems to be only in the snow areas, as the rest of the game runs perfectly fine.

Although for me it crashes in random spots in that second part - sometimes if I charge ahead I can make it to the first campfire spot before it crashes. If I go slowly sometimes it still crashes in that spot, sometimes I can make it further down. If I stay in the same spot up at the top of the hill and let them come to me, then it seems to be fine - it's only when I try to go down the path it crashes.

I've done as the other thread said and reinstalled the C++ files. I've also tried with all the graphics settings down as low as they will go. I've tried numerous times.

My PC is less than 2 months old.
    - Core i5 6500 @ 3.20GHz
    - AMD Radeon R9 380
    - 8gb RAM
    - Windows 7

I also had crashes while doing the rhino mission in the snow - that would crash when I got close to the path that leads up out of the area (where you later keep following the rhino) with the 2 ice-covered pools where you fight the rhinos the first time. The only way I managed to get through that one was avoiding that area until the rhinos were dead, and then inching my way forward really slowly (I figured maybe if the game was crashing due to loading the terrain, going really slow might help). So I've tried the same method of going really slowly, but it doesn't seem to be working for the stone woman mission.

My PC is just over a month old (everything in it is brand spanking new) - there are no old drivers.

I've also verified the game files, and updated the game.

I'm now up to the quest to find the elder mammoth - again, in the snow, and again it's crashing. So I can't do either of those quests. I assume that means I'll never get the ability to ride beasts

Also when up in the part of the world map where you start to see patches of snow on the ground (eg up where you find the elk).

Everywhere else is fine - running smoothly, no issues. Even places on fire is fine, it is only where there is snow that it is crashing.

all i can tell you is i had the same thing happen i contacted AMD support they said remove all my drivers

    and reinstall them

it was a VERY common problem with R 9 380 cards when the game shipped

many people would get crashing in snowy area's with an AMD GPU

AMD responded with an updated driver to correct the issue

    if its still crashing

then your GPU maybe has a problem with your settings .. reduce them

an no an R 9 380 maybe cant run the game in Ultra .. could be a power issue with your PC as the R 9 380 cards do suck alot o power .. (much more then Nvidia )

game runs perfectly crash free on my old Dell Dimension from 2006

    Dell Dimension E 520
    Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit w \ SP1
6 gig of old DDR 2 ram
    Intel Core 2 quad Q 6600 @ 2.4 GHZ
HIS AMD HD 5770 1 gig vid card < i had to reduce the settings to Normal since i lack vid ram on that GPU
other card i tried was a factory overclocked AMD R 9 270 X game ran fine with high settings in 1440 X 900 (once i re installed vid drivers CLEAN )

other card i tried SAPPHIRE AMD HD 7750 ran crash free like the 5770 card does with normal texture settings
(crashed in snow area's till i installed the drivers CLEAN after using DDU ..just like the other two AMD cards i tried )

550 Watt 80 + certified thermaltake power supply

my main system has an Nvidia GPU in it with win 10 Pro same PSU

    ASUS P5 B motherboard
    Intel Core 2 quad Q 9650 OC to @ 3.6 ghz
    8 gig of RAM
ASUS STRIX GTX 960 in 1080 P <card had no probs with the game ..tried the ASUS r 9 270 X crashed in snow area till i wiped the drivers with DDU and performed a clean install of 15.7.1 AMD drivers
    ran fine in high settings @ 1440 X 900

i also used that same driver 15.7.1 on my laptop that only has an AMD A10 5750 quad core CPU
game runs crash free on that too win 10 64 bit home edition
but i have to keep the settings on low since it only has an AMD 8650 G graphics chip and i run it in 1280 X 720 on that

so its not a game problem .. its your drivers .. or your power supply and / or vid card ..sorry but yes you can buy a brand new PC that has bad drivers installed ..or a weak power supply ..or a bad GPU

all ya can do is try other drivers .. or contact AMD support , as there were many many post of people who had problems with R 9 380 cards ..AMD had to release a new driver to fix it .. its a FACT

go look on the AMD forums

    https://community.amd.com/thread/197...rimal crashing

you most likely just have a driver problem ...

also make sure you verify your game files in case its a corrupted install

do so when running Steam or Uplay as a run as ADMIN for best results

as some times a corrupt install of the game MAY cause it to crash

To verify your files if you bought the game thru Steam ..\EXIT Steam ..right click your steam icon ..select run as Administrator

    to launch Steam

then go to your Steam games library

right clik on far cry Primal

    select properties

    select local files

select verify Integrity of game cache

it takes a few min to do but its faster the redownloading your entire game , if its only a few files that were corrupt or installed incorrectly .... this in many cases will fix your problems

If you have the U play only Version of the game you can also verify your game files with U play

if you have the game via u play only here are instructions how to verify your game files thru their client
Again its probably best to make sure you launch Uplay as RUN as Administrator when you do a file verify

again i ran into the same problem with 3 different AMD GPU's ..................... the fix that worked was DDU and a clean install of the drivers

completed the game on all 3 of my systems ..crash free

    I'd already verified the files.

I found the solution though.... I'd run the AMD driver program and it said I was already using the recommended driver . But it was the "Minimal Setup" version. So I tried installing the non-minimal version and that worked - I can now go into the snow.
