That said, it is no wonder PC gaming has reached an all time low; with companies such as this one bringing out half-assed games with poor optimization and other problems out of lazyness and the prospect of making more money over pure gaming passion and love; meanwhile homogenizing the market and eating all the smaller companies that somehow manage to deliver better titles... yea, no wonder...
...But they are not the sole reason, oh no, all the Console plebs (and especially the ridiculous ammount of "mommy giv mi money to go buy cod and all other stagnatingly bad gaeeemes coming out pliiiiiiiz?; and give me a console for christmas or I will hate you foreva!") are not helping either.
Consoles eat everything: Consoles provide an excuse for developers to go lazy on all aspects ranging from graphical quality, engine quality, gameplay quality, server quality, customer management/addressing qualities (preciselly because of all the kids and prepubescent idiots playing them) and so on.
What other consequences that directly affected PC, besides those I already mentioned, has this recent focus on consoles brought?
-Hardware Development... What's the point in rushing out new hardware and advancing into the future when people keep cathering to the stone age consoles? This means people automatically assume that since PCs aren't thaaat far ahead from Consoles when it comes to games then what's the point of paying more for a computer and other services?- and thus the cycle repeats itself: Consoles are cheaper (in a fool's mind anyway), people buy them in droves... Gaming Companies start cattering to them more and as such drop their game quality standards to crap levels because console plebs are not as demanding as the PC crowd nor would their hardware specs be able to cope with anything inovative in the industry anyway (this does not have to do with just graphics, keep that in mind)...
More money comes out of Consoleers (is that a term?) with fewer costs for the game developers, who suffers in the end? PC, Technology and Gaming in general. I wouldn't be surprised if 100 years from now we would reach a point in gaming that could have been achieved in half the time or two thirds if it wasn't for Consoles; But what can I say, I'm just a keyboard warrior hiding behind a computer screen.
Come, console plebs, storm me with insults now... it will not change the truth regardless; Computer Gaming may be dying but if you think you are safe with your consoles you better think again.
