Is this such a bad idea? Hear me out...
When Ubisoft announced the changes for crafting in the April update they said:
"As each player develops and perfects their build, he or she will be looking for very specific items that will contribute to that build. Looking for one specific item can be quite tedious, but it should also feel extremely satisfying when the item is finally acquired."
This was not my experience of finding my first high end M1a. My first thought was "it's probably not going to be as good as my current purple one" (which has accuracy and balanced). My second thought was "nope, it's not". This goes against what Ubisoft were trying to achieve with the update surely?
Given the large amount of variables that exist the chance of actually finding the weapon you want is so slim it is close to depressing. Why not make it that a gun is a gun? In real life you would not get 2 sniper rifles that are identical but one has 40% more accuracy, does 25% more headshot damage and is much more stable, that makes it a completely different gun does it not? It can be altered enough with just the mods I don't see the need for varying damage and 3 talents which determine whether it is god-like or trash.
At least in Destiny when you finally found the high end weapon you were after you would be elated as soon as you saw it appear without having to think "hang on, I'd best check it's got the right talents" and then finding out that in all likelihood it doesn't. There are some great "reaction" videos on YouTube of people finding particular weapons on Destiny, Surely Ubisoft want The Division players to be having similar emotions?
It would solve the crafting issue. At least it would mean having saved up for the blue print and collected the materials needed you would have the weapon you wanted without having to roll 40+ versions before getting one you actually want to use. You could triple the materials requirement if you knew you'd get what you wanted....
It would help to balance PvP more as there would not be so much of a disparity between people using the same gun. Am I the only person who wants a fair fight? There is still the gear mods that determine the effectiveness of weapon and the individual skill of the player would be more of a factor again not the fact that person A has the 3 best talents on their gun and person B does not.
I want to love the division and think this would help alot. Thanks for reading, thoughts welcome!
That's cause you still think The Division is a shooter. It is not. It's just harder to suspend disbelief because its set in our time period and uses guns with real-life analogues. Imagine Agents to be Stormtroopers and guns being blasters and then same gun having different damage will seem okay =).Given the large amount of variables that exist the chance of actually finding the weapon you want is so slim it is close to depressing. Irrelevant. This is an rpg first and shooter second as the delivery system for the rpg. How do you explain your level 1 gun doing less damage than your level 30 then? Or getting more health from your kneepads? Give up this "in real life" nonsense because this isn't a mirror of real life aside from the realistic setting. In real life you would not get 2 sniper rifles that are identical but one has 40% more accuracy, does 25% more headshot damage and is much more stable, that makes it a completely different gun does it not?
They've also made it abundantly clear even before release that the intention was an rpg first and foremost.
I think they need to change the talents to bring ballance into the game, but not remove them.
i.e. accuracy stat is broken, armor has one talent that gives you armor after incover for 10+ seconds, yet it gives you another talent 40%+ instantly... I just think some talents need buffing to bring everything in line.
I'd also like gear sets to have talents.
They may have said that the intention of the game was RPG first and 3rd person shooter second, but I would have to disagree... sure they have the leveling part of an RPG but they neglected the main part of the genre that they prioritized, that being the RolePlaying part, the state of them game as it is now makes it 90% 3rd Person Shooter and only 10% RPG. The story behind "TheDivision" is just that a background story, I dont get the feeling that when leveling up you play a part in the story.. all you do is establish a base and that's about it.Originally Posted by BlueCremeSoda Go to original post
Some weapon talents could be removed from the pool and nobody would care, this way you also greatly increase the chance of getting the "god roll" you are looking for.
Besides that, weapon and player scaling shouldn't even be considered in PvP environment, it's all fine and dandy in PvE but this absolute lack of any balance and the glorification of exploiters (because quite frankly, every single person that exploited is overgeared to hell and back) ruins it.
I wish talents on weapons and armor, were done in the same line as Destiny, where the more you use it the closer you'd become in unlocking that talent. I wouldn't have minded even spending some sort of currency, or even a crafting tool to unlock it. The way its set up. You basically can end up weakening, or completely ruining the build you're trying to go for.
Let me now hope a piece of gear drops, that makes up for what I lost in another stat, because I'm trying to get this talent to unlock.. Hours later no luck. Let's try to craft it. Spend time gathering materials... Get a roll that weakens everything oops no more crafting materials.
You really funny, guy. This is RPG shooter game, you know that?Originally Posted by x Bozley x Go to original post
so you request Ubisoft break their game follow your way =))
if you want to remove all talent from weapons, trust me, please play Call of Duty or something like that, do not play The Division.
I can not stop smile when i think about your ideas.
They missed! Shooter. that's all it is now. It had some RPG elements to it at first but now that its all about pvp. You can change the Dark Zone or Grief Zone name to Death match zone. I run solo and I like to fight the AI. I don't go rogue mostly because it goes against the story line and what you went through to complete the story part of the game. You cant just go rogue while playing the story. Still not getting how JTF or Division agent will send a heli into the dark zone to extract gear for rogue agents and how do these rogue agents get there gear that has been extracted from the BoO when they would be shot on sight stepping into the place. There is a lot wrong with this. I guess you can say they don't know or whatever. Doesn't really matter either. I know I wont be spending any more money on this game tho. I got my 60 bucks worth out of it but there is nothing motivating me to buy a dlc right now. I still think pvp should be a choice, not taken out of the game because the CoD kids would cry but separate servers for the ones that don't want to pvp. not that hard of thing to do. The biggest thing that needs to be done right now is getting rid of the hackers and chat spammers. These 2 things are ruining whats left of the game all together!Originally Posted by BlueCremeSoda Go to original post
