People chased us. More kills happened. We waited out the timers. Did I feel good? No, because I was sitting and defending an area because I only had the choice to die and lose stuff or defend and get some xp and funds. Was it thrilling? Not to me. I thought with open world that had a zone with PvP in it that I would get to wander around and farm things but really only way that works is to go into the DZ.
It seems like Massive doesn't actually believe people when they say "this isn't fun." For a sizeable group of people, being a rogue or encountering a rogue agent in the DZ is about exactly as fun as playing incursion - in other words, Fun Level Zero. I like PvP, in games like Destiny, or COD, or Titanfall, or...well, you get the point. I don't like PvP here. It doesn't fit the lore, it's intentionally unbalanced, it's not a game style well-designed for PvP, and it's currently the victim of major exploits.

If they envision certain activities as endgame, they better make them fun. **** rewarding, they need to be FUN.

I remain surprised they persisted with their vision of the Dark Zone at all -- I can't believe they didn't have anyone on the team saying "Guys, this really...isn't a good idea."

For PvP, I think the penalty to being rogue should be similar to what it was before; Higher. So while there should be a high penalty, but also a high reward. That way, you have to really make a choice on going rogue. So that getting killed while rogue should hurt, but surviving it, should be well worth it (but you have to survive it first). The people/teams more confident in their abilities versus other players would be inclined to do it, but it would stop every other person from doing so without really being at great risk themselves.

As it stands now, it's a bit too rampant; because there really isn't any deterring drawbacks.
Would not work even with big penalties because Ubi don't seem to realize that people use their other characters for griefing and trolling.

There has to be just one DZ rank - which will be one and the same on all characters.

It's definitely how the PVE should feel, but NOT how the DZ should be. Though I'm not sure if it'll ever change as they didn't really concern themselves with the PVE players wanting to just chill and do missions / run around 3/4 of the map they created and do random stuff (GTA style). No no ... they have it in their heads that everyone must want to go in to the DZ why would you want to run around 3/4 of this beautiful map and do stuff? You must want to hang out in the DZ for end game ... I personally have no issues with the DZ, but I can see that they're not giving what all of their players want.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I get bored when it's a rogue-free server. Even if I'm solo I still want rogues on the mapto hunt down. Will I die? Sure will! But i'll take one down with me before I go out. It's all part of the DZ fun.

Couldn't say if you were in the minority, but I don't bother hunting rogues. The odds of running across a rogue I can kill are just too low (hell, 50% of the time I can't even visibly damage them before they drop me), and the juice isn't worth the squeeze, to quote another post here. I can have more fun and less headaches farming bosses than hunting rogues...it's a no brainer decision.

I would SO LOVE a PvE DZ variant, either in the DZ itself or, what i would prefer, in the light zone. I still can't understand how they created such a huge, beautiful city and theer is nothing to do in it.

This is more of an issue with them removing the respawn of the named enemies in the PvE section, than it is an issue with the DZ.

    Solution:

Return named bosses to the PvE area, but on a once-per-day respawn (the regular, unnamed mobs that accompany them can respawn constantly all day, but the bosses - with their rewards - only spawn once per day).

Expand and randomize their exact location on the map. Leave each one in their appropriate neighborhood, but let them roam a little farther, so that their're harder to find.

That way, non PvP inclined players can log in, do their dailies and whatnot, then spend the rest of their time trying to locate and then kill the named bosses, without ever needing to go into the DZ (unless they want to level faster, but at the added risk of being killed by rogues).

I decided to run to meet my mates at the Lexington the other night instead of fast traveling and it now feels surreal moving through the city and I kinda missed doing it, you forget just how well a job massive did creating something this pretty. I hope the pve area will become more relevant in later updates wouldn't mind having more to do in there, seems when you hit 30 it's all about the Dz or earning phoenix creds it's a shame

It is actually more complicated than just putting named bosses back into the LZ on a respawn timer. Once you start hitting DZ 4-6, not only are the stationary mobs dangerous, but the roving NPCs in combination with them is dangerous. If they started doing similar things in the LZ, it would preclude people from being able to gather crafting supplys.

I did like someone else's idea of 'take back area X' as a daily mission kind of thing, but the problem is scaling. A fresh 30 would get pounded with mostly purples fighting level 30 veteran mobs. I'm at 178 and I can do them like pop corn. That is why a PvE DZ makes the most sense.

They all ready have it setup to scale correctly.

Phoenix Credits had their time a while back, they are garbage now - now everything good is locked behind millions of DZ credits.
