Gamers don't mind chasing a carrot on a stick. I'll chase a carrot all day.
The problem here is that the stick is too long. Hell, some people probably can't even see the carrot. (Does scavenging even work, do bosses have different loot tables, which boss should I farm? Do challenge mission have better drop rates than hard? NOBODY ****ING KNOWS)
So instead of chasing the carrot, we farm the easiest possible way and just craft the stuff we want. All while being told we're not allowed to find easier ways to farm (exploits) and that we shouldn't be crafting all of our gear (crafting nerf).
You know what the worst part about all of this is? Massive aren't going to fix it until the see the player base dwindle far enough that they realize they're not going to make any money on DLCs. The same way Blizzard didn't fix Diablo until everyone gave up (although they did a fantastic job), the same way most of Destiny's problems didn't get fixed for over a year, etc. Dont expect this game to be any different. You can expect to be completely fed up with logging in before it'll be fixed. Because until they see the number of players dwindle to unprofitable levels, their fingers are in their ears and their heads are in the sand and they'll refuse to acknowledge that the loot system is broken.
I understand how ilevels typically work but the fact is they don't. same can be said in many games. even in the likes of wow&xiv where players will often use gear of a lower tier because it has better secondary stats even if the primary are marginally lower.Originally Posted by wolfsraine Go to original post
in the division though gear score is totally broken and meaningless. as I referenced earlier. my stats are significantly better than my friends but his gear score is 21 levels higher than mine. that shouldn't be the case but it is.
gear score is currently meaningless. because if I strip every mod from every piece of gear and every part off my weapons like extended magazines etc etc. my characters stats would decrease by maybe 50% but my gearscore would be exactly the same.. the whole system is broken.
hence my friends gear score is 21 levels higher than mine. but my stats are better across the board.
I do about primary dps 160k dps where my friend does 110k with a higher tear gun than mine, he does 50k less dps..
I have about 61k hp he has 54k hp
I mitigate 46% of damage he mitigate 41%
i have 32k skill power and he has 21k
i do like 24% damage to elites he does 8%
and so forth.
the fact that his gear score is 21 levels higher than mine means that overall his stats SHOULD be slightly better than mine. but my stats are SIGNIFICANTLY better than his in most cases.
also items of equal score should be relatively comparable. but again as I mentioned earlier. in the case of the holster that was on sale in base of operations not so long ago. 163 score I believe. I've rerolled mine to have nearly a hundred stamina more than my friends but it still maintains the same score.
so even if we had the exact same gear in every slot our stats could be so very different.
