(Op ED) The division is only as good as your friends list

Okay, I'm sure I'm not the only one that has noticed this, and comparisons to destiny are going to be unavoidable (cough, less bugs please).

Every facet of this game is improved by having a reliable list of players you can call upon to assist you with your own gameplay, whether it be a guild, or that sweet skillpower build player you found on one of your daily challenge runs that was buffing your glass cannon build to do insane damage. or that tank who ran into withering fire to get you back up on your feet.

So you might ask, but this is uplay, and lets be honest at launch it was so buggy that I've got a steam friends list, and uplay only gets used for ubisoft games, none of which are MMO's... How do I get friends on this platform?

Simple, play the game. When you run into a player that you enjoy playing with, ask to add them to your friends list, run with pugs (pick up groups) and if one player seems to actually understand what they're doing, add them, or let them add you to their own expanding friends list.

So what do you do if no one wants to add you, or confirm your friend addition? I could be a ***** and say "get good scrub" but what it really comes down to is playing the game, learning it's ins and outs, and getting better so that other players see you as worth adding to their friends list. Look at yourself, and ask the questions. Are you reliable? are you serving a purpose in any group you join into?and lastly (sorry you knew this was coming) Are you a good player?

Don't get disheartened if the last two points aren't really applying to you, the last two are fixable.

For the second point...Are you serving a purpose? Look at your build, what are your strengths and weaknesses? is there something that you do well that will help any group you join? (trust me, being the guy they can always count on for a rez wins you a lot of friends)

For the third point, "Are you a good player". Don't despair if you're still learning. The levels of difficulty are there for a reason. A good hard level player is easier to find than a good challenge level player, and if you can shine in your self-defined role in hard mode you can probably find a player that was happy with your performance, and might teach you the ins, and outs of challenge mode.

Dark Zone: I feel this requires a completely different section. A good PvE player is completely different to a good PvP player, and quite often requires a different mindset, let alone a different character build. I will just say that there is no Meta for PvP that is the be all and end all. There are certain builds that work better than others, like the firepower with M1/M44 1/2 hit kill builds. (this build does have a hard counter in some of the psychotic tank builds that do exist.), or the electronics/nuke build I've seen a few times (hard counter for most tank builds).
Remember the Dark zone is a PvE area that allows PvP play. It isn't a distinct PvP area, and how you play the dark zone comes down to personal preference. The dark zone is something to be cautious of, not something to be afraid of.

Just my thoughts on the matter

my active friend list of who are currently playing went down from dozens to less than 5-7, out of which 2 or 3 are playing siege.

    My total is 70+.

Yes, I am a lone wolf now a days. Everyone has left to go back to Destiny. The social aspect of online games is very important. I like my friends more than Destiny or The Division. As a result, I will be playing more Destiny. Still Logging into the Division just to get the dailies done with 2 toons for the PC but they will only matter so long. I was running the Challenge Missions over and over trying to get gear set items but have given up on that. Anyways, no one to brag or share the items with.
