So HP and Armour are no longer a thing?

So I have been playing what you would consider a 'Tank' build since the release of the game, and you would think 140k hp and 65% would cut it in the dark zone right?

Well since Massive have decided to up everybody's dps by potentially 100 - 500% with the new gear sets and have COMPLETELY overlooked its effect on HP and Armour in pvp.

No matter how you spin it, the only strategy that matters anymore is dps/crit and who manages to get their shots in first, any other build or strategy will simply be melted away.

What happened to tactics, strategic teamplay, interesting builds?

Being a tank was fun while it lasted, but i feel i have no choice anymore than to join team DPS and the gank squad. What a shame!

When were there any to begin with?

Most of the people in the game ran with the exact same setup, sporting the exact same weapons, using a very simple pulse shoot roll medkit shoot punch strategy for killing anything that was reinforced by the shield wall signatures. There is no tank build in the division, even massive agrees, they put sets in for the 4 roles that there are .... rifleman, sniper, tech, and solo.

The dps stacking staple build of the game should have been a glass cannon build, unable to run right up on you because of how fast they could die outside of cover... but the signature system basically destroyed that entire idea by itself. Game would have been 100x better with 3 more skills to use instead of signatures, and letting people pick a third skill that occupied the spot IMO.

In any other role playing game the only viable pvp builds are healers and dps.. No one goes in as tank because you get slaughtered by dps.

Chances are your health build is probably pretty great, but you are running into people that are using the DPS stacking glitch.

Unfortunately, unless your health is sitting at several hundred thousand, there's just no way any standard health build is going to counter those glitchers.

Just sit back and avoid the DZ for a few days until this crap is fixed.

They never existed in this game. But I am old enough to remember when Ubisoft put out great games like the first Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon where you actually had to do some thinking and planning. When you and a buddy (a real person that had to physically be in the same room with you) would run a mission over and over, re-planning your approach routes and load outs.

Not that I ever thought this game would be like that. It was never billed as that type of game and I played the beta so I knew it was not. But I still miss that style.

Yup, couldn't agree more. The 4 piece striker/2 piece sentry that seems to be the staple is so insanely overpowering - +1 to +100%/+20% to armor/+100% crit dmg and +30% headshot dmg is ******ed. I don't think they'd be able to create any armor set for a tank to mitigate that well, without then completely destroying the tactician or nomad's ability to fight them (i.e. only a striker would have the dmg).

    Your proabaly right .....

I was combining my hp with high skill and a very strong shield and it was constantly yeilding interesting results.

Other teams will go through a moment of wtf? Followed by "lets see how strong this guys shield is"

After they all empty their magazines into the shield my teammates would pick them off while they reloaded. Its simply not possible now. Why have all these skills available when only 2 are viable?

There are multiple ways massive could tweak things to get the game back to being a cover based shooter.

The Dark Zone is actually Fun to PvP in at very low levels when no one has any of the Signature abilities yet, 4 vs 4 encounters are a ton of fun . People actually use cover, move cover to cover, us different abilities and weapons. <----the way the game was meant to be = cover based shooter .

High level PvP is BORING. 99% of engagements everyone using the same weapons + stack surviver links + 1 tactical link , and run out in the open and melt people in 2 seconds = boring run and gun gameplay. If I want run and gun PvP I would play COD.

I started out playing a Dedicated healer but it's useless in the DZ(and for 99% of the PvE) , there is no way to out heal the absurd amount of DPS . Don't even have a Re-active passive heal ability as a healer to allow you to use other healing skills and let you take damage. Or any life stealing heals to make up for the lower DPS

(usually Tanks Mitigate Damage and Healers out Heal damage, and DPS is made out of lettuce and gets shredded just as easily but Massive allows Dps to become Nearly Invulnerable ( and also stack Multiple speed Buffs so if your solo you can't even run away = 2/3/4 survivor links > 1 survivor link = dead , why they would put a speed run ability on the Tank line Signature ability is beyond me)

That sounds amazing. A third skill with no sig skill would be the best thing that ever happened to pvp in the divison .

Such a simple idea but so good.
