Yesterday I posted what was basically a rant. To my defense, I just had spent over an hour looting in the DZ as a solo-player and got all my **** stolen by a gang of ninja-rogues.
After a good nights sleep, realizing that i am on a day off, with nothing to lose I decided to give the game one more try. If the daily missions had not yet been reset, I would quit right away. But they had reset. Since I spawned in the DZ after quiting last night, I decided to first try a session in the DZ again. It was in that single DZ session that the game sort of redeemed itself for a second chance.
At first I was extremely cautious. After yesterday's experience I decided not to trust anyone. If there were rogues around, I would hike to another extraction zone, even if that meant a long haul into DZ06. The first extraction went without issues. I called in the chopper, retreated far away from the LZ to remain hidden for rogues. Five seconds before the chopper hovers over the LZ, I went back in, popped survival link and extracted my stuff.
Second extraction was not called in by me. I happened to be in the neighbourhood when the call came in. By now I was getting anxious. I had spotted several rogues on the HUD. The player who called in the exctraction was no rogue, but I was definetely anxious that he would pull a ninja rogue on me. Helicopter arrives, I pop survival link and hang the loot on the wire. So does the other player. The situation is tense now, will he suddenly start shooting at me even though there is no more loot for him to grab. We back off both, keeping a silent truce. It's at that moment suddenly a rogue arrives right in front of us. The rogue tries to hang his loot on the wire. I get a red haze in front of my eyes. I remember what these rogue jerks did yesterday to me. If this rogue think he will be able to extract his stuff while I sit idle by, then he is mistaken. I open full auto on him. Granted the extraction animation probably prevent him from defending himself, but who cares. Down he goes, his loot spilling onto the ground. Without hesitation I pick it up and hang it myself on the wire. Finally some justice for all the anguish and frustration caused by rogue players.
But the game itself is not done redeeming itself. As I head into the tunnels taking out another named boss I spot something weird about the color of his loot. Its not cold and at first glance I mistake it for some random appearance loot. That is until I check it out: Nomad's mask !!!! I had bought the already 2 pieces of it with a safe house vendor and now I got a 3rd piece. Extraction for that piece was tense, but there were luckily no rogues nearby.
And even then the gods were still smiling on me. Just as I was about to leave the game after the last extraction another rogue player passed me by. He was probably running for the exit point. Again the red haze descended before me. It took some effort but his dead body outside the entrance to the DZ marks another inglorious end of a rogue.
Yesterday I was thinking about quitting the game, now I have hope that if I adapt my style and if the gods are willing, there might be a second chance for the Division. We are after all the second wave![]()
This is how it goes in the DZ, either get ganked and get your stuff stolen or extract tons of stuff safely and maybe meet some friends along the way (just depends on your luck that day lol) ... glad you're enjoying the game a bit more. Once you're in higher level gear as you now mention you have 3 pieces, you'll just be extracting crafting materials (cause nothing will drop that you need eventually) and you'll stop getting bothered when you get ganked and will start to enjoy the DZ and it's PvP more.![]()
