    Where's the weather?

Is it just me or is the weather in Oros completely static?

I haven't travelled all the way south, so I could be mistaken, but aside from some light snow in Udam land, there's nothing but sunny, temperate weather.

Not only does this seem a bit odd for such a lush, green landscape, but the animation/mechanic already exists in game from when you have your first beast master affirming hallucination.

Is this something anyone else feels should be implemented properly?

There's no dynamic weather and yes - it's been requested numerous times already sadly enough.
Just like in Far Cry 4, the only change in weather is a mild snowfall in the north regions.

I don't see why they can't simply make the same rainstorm as the one in "Vision of Beasts" appear in Oros once every few days. Even Far Cry 3 had occasional rain.

This is something I don't understand - having the rainstorm in the game (in the 'Vision of Beasts') and then we are to assume it's an asset already part of the modified Engine - why not then add it to the rest of the game?? Would it be that hard?

    Ubisoft?

I get the impression you guys are underestimating the work that has to go into creating something like dynamic weather. Its not as simple as just "add rain randomly.exe" or something. There are multiple development disciplines involved from the lighting teams and FX teams to programming & more.... Yes, theres a storm in that one scripted mission, but remember how it's all very dark & blue? not much lighting involved beyond what was already in place, certainly not in comparison to the daytime in the open world. I'm not against weather, obviously, but the way it's being talked about seems like y'all are under the impression its a simple fix....

I think they might have had less weather in 4 amd Primal as both places are meant to have sort of local micro climates. I also think they might have felt snow and rain do not mix so good too. Still a few light drizzles would have done wonders in the marshy areas and so on. It is also possible that they see the sun as uplifting the game so it is not too grim despite all the killing. There has increasingly been a sort of sunny side war tourist vibe since FC3 - you know a carzy holiday with guns. Sure it rained on occasion in 3 but it was pretty rare being mostly sunny with almost an at a beach vibe at times imo.

Also with the exception of the browns of FC2 Far Cry has mostly gone with a very bright and vivid colour scheme. I can recall reading one poster online somewhere saying he did not want to play FC in Kyrat because he liked the sun. This was before the game came out and I think there were some misconceptions about the new setting. Although I like weather in games I guess Ubi may want to be different as some games can have dull palettes lots of rain storms poor visability etc.

Although there is little in the way of rain the game does have some nice contrast in lighting on occasion and better mist type effects on the PS4 than FC4.

    All good reasons.

I didn't consider how difficult it might be to implement, though it does come pretty standard in most open world games these days so surely it's feasible... but then Ubi does have a history of rushing development.

Viragoxv is right about it messing with the fire mechanic though I feel that would only add to the excitement of trying to find shelter. I really would love to see a storm like the one in vision of the beasts, or a blizzard decreasing visibility and making cold exposure critical. Dynamic environments for me really just breathe life into an otherwise static world.

Vic is right about the sunny war tourist theme present in the last few games, so maybe that's it. And we have to give credit to Ubi for the ambience and lighting that they did include. Primal really is a beautiful game.

I will say I'm in full support of dynamic weather for the next far cry, whatever form it takes. Typically I don't like playing the game when it's a storm but that is a real thing that can happen and it's just something the character/ you would have to deal with, I just legit hate rain in real life and that feeling tends to bleed into the games I play as well... hahaha

Often seems too much rain where I live in the better seasons too although sunny today, but love rain and weather in games also subtle changes in the lighting.

Sadly I wonder if good rain might be a bit of a frame rate killer on consoles for FC and that is partly why it is rare in FC now too. For example when it makes everything a bit shiny and you get droplet ripples in puddles and so on. When rain is done badly it can be an immersion breaker too - as a constant reminder that you are looking at a less than perfect graphic - rather than a fair representation of the real thing.

Guess I would prefer well rendered sunshine over poorly rendered cut down rain effects even though as stated I like rain / weather in games.

Some of the best rain I can recall in a game being the stuff at the beginning of Crysis 3 when you are at the dock in a storm. Weather in games - always reminds me of Morrowind - the first game I really felt did weather effects really well at least for its time. Morrowind also a game that captivated with a sense of coherent place in the sort of way Primal does despite Primal having less weather.

Let´s hope we will get a full fluid and dynamic weather system in the next Far Cry game.
This is one of the big steps back during the whole franchise development.

I don't think it would really have a huge impact on frame-rate, I mean, the game isn't exactly a graphical showcase that is pushing the limits of the hardware as is... I doubt the current game could ever run at 60fps, but I think they could probably do more to it before it starts to bog it down...

Its a step back I agree, but I'd say one of the more trivial omissions imo.... but again, thats coming from someone who would probably use the sleep function until the rain effects were over just to avoid playing in it, so..
