Sorry for wall of text.
So I pick it up at release. And have watched the forums since then. I've seen a million post either one way or the other. Either greifers and the get gud it was meant to be this way or the PVE guys calling foul because you ganked me from behind. And a million soloutions to it (most absurdly intricate). To me the problem and the soloution are very simple. Make the dz what it was supposed to be high risk/high reward. Because regardless of which side of the fence your on its not nor has it ever been. In the beginning it was high risk low reward coupled with the fact that it was too easy to go rouge. So people complained there was no point to going rouge. They changed it and now everyone views it as low risk high reward. But it's not that either now it's just low risk/low reward. 99% of drops in this game are utter crap dz or pve alike, just mats for my blueprints. So all your really left with is mindlessly grinding npc for dz levels. BORING as hell, much more fun to go rouge. Make surviving rouge status and killing rouges give you a ton of xp and dz cash. And dying as rouge even a little more severe than it was. And just let the non hostile grinders lose their loot nothing else. They are not going to up true high end drops so what you get is what u get. It should be about rouge vs rouge killer with npc's and non hostile a scattered about for flavor and diversity IMO.
I had fun today I went into the DZ1 area and headed for one of the extraction points. I climb up to the top of one of the scaffolds and pop off the NPC's that keep showing up there when someone calls in an extraction. More fun then ambushing weak players. At least the NPC's can hold there own in a fight and I collected a lot of XP point and cash from them and fellow players where able to extract there loot. A win all around.
i agree with the OP. its funny how people complained the penalty was too severe. so they lessened the penalty for going rogue. now everyone wants it increased again. but in my experience the changes didn't really cause THAT much more rogue status in the DZ.
but the fun wears off quickly now that Challenging missions aren't really worth it anymore, except for the 1 daily. putting 20 minutes into a mission isn't worth my time anymore, now that i can get the same amount of HE items in about 4 minutes or less in the DZ, sometimes even quicker of course if a DZ crate is open and i have a key. especially since there are only 4 challenging missions, I'm tired of playing the same missions over and over and over and over.
the new supply drops make the DZ more fun in my opinion. a lot of people dont bother with them because they are often just purples. but the way i see it is its FINALLY some variety. a new boss spawning in at a RANDOM location is awesome for the DZ, because otherwise its just the same thing over and over again. At least the supply drops add bosses to new locations, and give you two pieces of gear that you dont have to extract. not to mention its for your whole group, and many people have found gear set pieces in there
all in all i agree with the OP though that its all just a mindless grind for Mats to craft stuff, even though they said all the HE drops would make it so crafting wasn't quite as important. main problem is that lvl 31 and 32 guys aren't dropping higher level HE items. many people are grinding out lvl 32 bosses only to get the same lvl gear as they would get in easy lvl 30 areas. To be honest the only places I've found gear set items are lvl 30 and 31 bosses, none in lvl 32 areas.
on top of that the crafting conversion really hurts the crafting all in all. early lvl players can't get any mats to make anything easily. only ways to get gear set pieces reliably and with stats that fit your build is still by crafting. now it just takes way longer. so people glitch, and glitch , etc
Actually that is a PC only problem. Console players don't have to deal with anything but the glitches. DZ is still kinda pointless IMO. NPCs are no challenge, drops still stink. Just a bunch of grinding for blueprints. Only thing entertaining about the dz is rouge. And that is still pretty meh. Really just a bunch of trolling out of boredom. Why not go ahead and make it this dynamic arena it was billed to be. You can't force people to play a certain way (aka greifers, grinders and saviors). But it seems that they could easily provide a platform for everyone to play the way they like simultaneously. Which would be unlike anything else out there.Originally Posted by R0ndok Go to original post
Yeah PC verson of The Division is getting insanely bad with cheaters, noticed barely any during the launch, now after patch of incursion I hop in to farm some levels so I can get the High-end Named weapon from the vendor and I have seen 3 speed/teleporters with instagibing people including my 3 man team >.<, granted its a usual PC problem across all games that do not use out side clients that combat hacking like ESEA.
