Everyone seems really pissed about people booting them from missions for having a low gear score. countless debates about how gear score doesnt mean anything, and how people can't gear up because they can't get into missions.
this thread is meant to end this debate in its tracks and teach everyone the way to avoid getting booted.
it is not the gear score that is the problem. it is matchmaking. matchmaking gives the leader the option to boot players. this is necessary if a player isn't playing (AFK) or if they are cheating, not participating in other ways, etc.
the simple solution to this problem is to always host the mission yourself. start the mission and then open your privacy from just friends to open in group management. people matchmaking will join your group and you will be leader. you will never get booted again.
also you will insure others getting into missions without getting booted because you will be a responsible leader who doesnt discriminate against lower gear scores.
you can't eliminate jerks, you can only avoid them. hopefully this teaches people how to avoid getting booted ever again. sucks, I've been there.
wow has been using vote of kick for almost a decade...maybe longer. Works wellOriginally Posted by phoreman Go to original post
And in a group of 180-190's I'm sure 3 of them wouldn't have a problem kicking a 160. But yeah it's harder to gear now for sure because of that especially if you don't have a friend to dz with and dz matchmaking won't group ppl in the same bracket. I got a 120 as a 186, not dragging a guy with 40k HP or 0 damage into a 161+ dz. Thus he gets removed.Originally Posted by Chop1329 Go to original post
Late night last night did matchmaking for Lincoln Tunnel - a challenge mission I've run a lot of times - and ended up in a group with two under 160 GS and one 207 - I'm at 197.
I wasn't group leader so no booting though I wouldn't have anyway - but then the clowning...the 207 wanted to run to the end bypass the enemies while clearly the other two wanted to fight. So bye bye 207 as they drop group after aggro-ing all the enemies on their way to the balcony.
So now me and two under 160's. I'm fairly sure they were using rare weapons that shoot tiny marshmallows as they are not even making armor budge. I'm killing as much as I can - not a DPS god by any means, but with the full Striker set I can hold my own - well usually, as the two lower geared players go down I find myself alone on the balcony with grenadiers on all sides...I eventually go down too. So I then dropped group...
Now would I have saved time by just saying "no under __ Gear Score" when I started? Yes, and that's why folks do it....not that it's right, just that it will save time...sometimes.
what? none of you who replied said anything about what i said. at all.
this isn't about your gear score. or if you should vote to kick. this is about avoiding being booted from a game altogether. dont matchmake and then complain if you're booted. just host it
im not starting a thread for everyone to do EXACTLY what i was talking about and complain about gear score and debate how it means nothing.
WE KNOW that someone who is 193 can be stronger than someone who is 210! WE GET IT!!!!
I DO NOT CARE
it means nothing unless you sit here and talk about it forever. the reason people talk about it is because they think its ruining the game. people are getting booted because of it.
THE TOPIC is that there is a solution for this, and gear score can be forgotten. just host your own missions. problem solved. no need for you people to tell me that gear score is meaningless anymore. i know i get it.
