[PS4] Curious Gorge by Reese6199 (I would like some criticism and advice.)

I've criticized myself all that I can but I think I'm a bit too intimate with the track to really understand what it is like for someone seeing/playing it the first time. I'm looking for any kind of criticism, advice or opinions.

Hi! I liked the drive line on your track, the theme looked decent. What i didn't like was the changed angle of the game camera. It's always a little risky changing it. For me it was a bit too close to the rider so you had not the best view of the coming obstacles. Also i felt a bit dizzy after a few seconds.
As for the decoration, most of it was well embed into the surrounding, only a few objects (train parts) lay around there. I'd always try to integrate everything meaningful.. what you did in general.
Oh and i'd try to make sure all the surfaces you're driving on are smooth and not bumpy (try to use custom collisions for example). I'm referring to the start of your track where you used this turned plywood. Other than that it's a nice track.

Hey, Eevan. Thanks for the feedback. I didn't even realize the camera wasn't default! It is in the default position but "Assisted" is disabled. Enabling it really improves the track. One of my own criticisms is that a lot of the detail I added to the track ended up completely off screen and fixing the camera lets that stuff be seen. Things like more of the wrecked train in the gully even the final checkpoint are more visible. I actually think I was originally designing around "assisted" being enabled and it got changed at some point and I just didn't notice.

I'll try to work on decoration some more though. Fixing the camera helped a bit but I still think some areas need some more life, especially around the train wreck. Maybe some fire, physics and more debris.

I'll also keep custom collisions in mind in the future. I did use a number of them around the train and to smooth some angle changes angles but I did neglect to use them to smooth already flat surfaces.

Yes, more details definitely help to make the track more lively and reliable. Just don't overdo it. :P Maybe try to find a theme you can start building to, an inspiring picture or a movie you liked. I don't know how many experience you have with the editor, but if you want to know how to use physics, OPE's and stuff, look up the Trials Evolution tutorials, they're basically all you need to know to get started.

Not necessary to use them on all flat surfaces, but there are some objects where the friction isn't as good as on others as you may have noticed already, so it's good to use custom collisions on them if you have the feeling something doesn't feel right while testing. You can also always use your favourite objects on the drive line, just make them invisible, set to contact only/contact reaction (not quite sure what the english menu says here) and then take an object of your choice, put it over it and set it to decoration only so you will have a different look but driving on an object you can trust.
Just make sure everything feels a hundred percent right, there's never enough testing.
