Those that were whining can move on and find something else to whine about.
This. Also, Massive should make a joke about it like they did with Bullet King. A fun thing to do would be to hotfix the incursion, but make it so when the APC's armour hits zero, after about an hour of sticky bombing, fifty level 34 shotgunners roll out of a door behind the glitching group. Leave that in for a few days then deploy the proper fix.

This would work in terms of not making the DZ an unplayable griefers' paradise. But I think a similar solution, with the same outcome, would be to simply remove 240 gear from everyone. Some people that earned it legit will be harmed, and probably a bit pissed, but they will be if everyone else gets the gear without doing the incursion. Removing let's the legit players regain it without a horrible time loss. But it also still allows everyone to earn the gear (new endgame content that's not DZ) once they fix the broken mess that is the incursion.

A side benefit is that the worse the exploiter, the more this punishes them by making their time investment a complete waste. Which is exactly what they plan to do in the DZ to other players.

Another side benefit is that they will still cry about it for our amusement and explain how since it was possible to do in the game it wasn't cheating or an exploit.

Yeah I and my whole group would quit the game instantly. We spent hours building gear sets legitimately and to have it taken away because others exploited wouldn't fly.

I've never really understood why MMO shooters don't follow the same system most MMORPG's do, I mean destiny had people cheesing through raids, the division has people exploiting entire incursions and boss spawns and nothing is ever done. Why is there such a difference between how MMORPG's like WoW and Final Fantasy XIV treat exploiters and how MMO shooters do? Especially considering the MMORPGs stand to lose out on subscription money and the MMO Shooters don't.

You discover an exploit and report it quietly, anything you gained via the exploit is removed and you get a thank you from the staff, maybe a gift of some description.
You discover an exploit and don't report it, or farm it, you're permabanned,

Back when FFXIV released their first 8 man raid, the first team to clear the final boss did so using a terrain exploit where one of his major attacks would miss you if you were standing on a slight hill. They didn't report it but because it was a server first everyone found out, the team was banned and the encounter was immediately locked for a few weeks while they fixed it.

I see there's lots of exploiters coming out on this one.......Ban the lot of yas. You think you don't imbalance the game? Well, you're either blind, or blind....Wipe your toon, back to level 1 or permanent ban. I truly hope this happens....cmon Ubi, get some sand in your pockets and ban the lot - you'll make another $100Million in the first month as the exploiters buy another copy and try and rush to max level and gear again before you get around to fixing the exploits.....

    Ban em

Because those MMOs have an in-game economy and those exploits economically hurt the game. For The Division, so what if everyone has 240 armor, the armor will be outdated with the next big game update anyway. Every developer is different, and how they handle their community and up to them.

In fact, they often made light of them or outright used the exploits/glitches themselves! They didn't address the fact that people using those exploits were so readily able to gear up ultra-fast and create a very wide gulf between those who could/did exploit vs. those who wouldn't/didn't. They tried to 'fix' this by upping the 163 HE drop rate but that was just a band aid.

Now, people who didn't participate in those prior exploits are now clamoring to jump into whatever the next exploit is - Incursions in this case - so they're not left behind like they were last time. None of this justifies the exploiting but I sincerely feel if Massive had taken control earlier and if they had a better loot design, these exploits wouldn't have gotten so out of control. At this point, trying to punish anyone would end up catching a whole lot of innocent people as well.

I'd personally prefer it if they'd just disable Incursion until the patch can be given out so they stop the bleeding here and then, as others have said, spend time making sure the next batch of content is glitch-free. Otherwise we're just going to keep repeating this cycle of trying to put a band-aid on an large and growing wound.
Very well said and without a lot of aggressive flames we have been seeing here lately. I do understand how serious this problem is and the frustration people are having with the rampant exploiting that is going on right now but calling each other names does not help at all.

Players found the glitch and used it. It's the gamemaker's responsible to make sure this isn't supposed to happen. The Destiny loot cave is a perfect example. Wipes and resets are going overboard. I'm grinding my way to better gear right now so I can finally do an Incursion. In the end, I'll be glad I got my gear legit.

You're both partially right, but the answer is you pay to play those games and for consistent support and content. You drop a one time bundle for this stuff, and it's not supported on the same level. Plus this is their only income source, where P2P games are a constant resource. In game economy is additionally a huge factor.
