Survivor is much more the sort of Primal I wanted to play from the beginning. With the hunting having greater purpose the free roaming side of things feels far more satisfying and necessary. To me Primal this way just makes better sense. Oros the sort of setting that screamed out for a deeper level of basic resource management than most modern setting Far Cry games. Having said the last I am hoping some of the things they are experimenting with in Primal enhance other Far Cry games including all th HIUD on off options and giving us more than one mode of play.
They've allowed toggling of HUD elements since FC3 after they patched in the options. Initially they had all sorts of prompts constantly interrupting you on screen with journal entries and gameplay tooltips & such, people complained and they added in options to disable them. FC4 continued the trend with more options so I don't think they'll go back to not giving us the options for HUD toggles. Now I'm left wondering what they could do in a modern setting with a survivor like mode. Personally I hope the next game is modern again, but if it is that has some implied changes to the game that would make the changes survivor made to Primal irrelevant, such as resources since in a modern game we (hopefully) wouldn't have to be gathering rocks & sticks all game long.

I played FC3 mostly unpatched as I was offline then and I know 4 had some HUD options but Primal seems to have given us more variety such as the new one for the bow. Actually that one is currently a bit glitchy when I got the longbow the cross cursor was back until I disabled and enabled the option again.

Speaking of options, a return to having a few extra save slots as previously mentioned would be good. Especially useful if we have more than one mode of play in the future such as survival and or newgame+

I wish more people would complain about the loss of multiple save slots then maybe someone might listen.

It will be interesting to see if they can integrate crafting better in future modern FC games. It may seem going backward if it remains the, (in the modern era somewhat silly), rare animal skin means more capacity sort of thing. That was fun - as an excuse to hunt in 3 and 4 - but never really made any logical sense and increasingly stretched disbelief as did the amount of gear you ultimately can carry. I also think the amount you can carry is still too much towards the end with Primal too. I keep having this recurring image of this overloaded individual struggling along in FC games. Although I know FC is hardly alone in having an OTT inventory load, sadly in video game land that one is far too normal.

Concept: Modern FC needs a load bearing exoskeleton upgrade aka Stalker Call of Pripyat.

Do not mind lots of inventory so much with crafting materials stuffed in a bag but when you are carting around an arsenal of doom such as masses of grenades, C4, mines and a small arms depots worth of more standard ammunition it seems a bit much, still maybe that is just me.

Just a thought, but what if, for a modern survivor mode, they sent parties to actively hunt you down? And I mean like, 10-15 people impressively armed and very alert? That would always keep you on your toes and improvising. Just an idea though

I've been complaining about the removal of multiple save files since they did it in FC4, and I complained about them not having it in W_D where this baffling trend seems to have started with UBI. I can agree that you're able to carry an unrealistic amount in these games, but personally I prefer that to the alternative of having less weapons at our disposal, especially for FC3/4, I loved that you had 4 weapon slots, really made you adaptable in that regard. I would concede that we should probably not be able to carry 12 'nades by the end, but it wasn't a negative thing in my book. FC is not a hyper-realistic shooter/ franchise, and as someone who's been a series long fan it's somewhat of a bummer for me to see that some people are trying to push it in that direction, because part of what I like about it is that it is OTT, because thats part of what makes it unique. There exists a bunch of tactical realistic survival games, I see no reason to try to turn FarCry into one of them.

DUUUUUDE, yes!! Kill squads sent after you with the reward for beating them being higher end weaponry & gear!! And those kill squads should be tough to beat, but with methods capable of being deployed in your advantage, like traps and ambushes. I'd love for it to be something to where eventually later in the game either through skill unlocks or gear upgrades you're able to get a bit of extra warning that they're after you so you can prepare! Oh man, I had never thought of that and that is just making my mind explode with ideas...

Please take special note of vic & I's specific mention of multiple save files desperately needing a return to not only this game in particular but all ubi franchises moving forward. I like to beat the game and try to 100% it and keep that file, but also start the game again, not having multiple save files actually decreases my desire to replay a game because I know I lose all progress on that playthrough...

Happily do this thing too, one save slot for a completed game so I can sandbox around with all the well earned upgrades - reset the outposts and so on - and other save slots for new games when I want to try out something different in the campaign missions. That was how I played FC3 and how I wanted to play FC4. In the end with 4 I realised I could log on PS4 as another user but that seems at best a messy way to do things.

Was thinking about another sort of second chance system:
Perhaps in FC instead of dying all the time you could pass out when severely wounded and thus be captured. You would then have to escape being held at an outpost or purpose built detention centre in order to play on. Possibly losing some money via bribing a guard to help facilitate your initial escape being one option. This sort of mission is often in the plot but usually it involves some annoying contrivance for why you are taken too easily. However if you get captured - when genuinely defeated in battle - severly wounded and have passed out it all makes sense. Besides, we all know how villians stupidly love to gloat over the fallen hero...

If you are captured then escape naturally a squad should be dispatched to hunt you down as RogueSurvivor mentioned.

Thinking back to FC4 I loved the hijacking missions and liked those retaliation convoys too. I would have loved the supply trucks to randomly have some additional escorts that you had to defeat too.

In a game such as Primal you could have groups of tribals lugging goods from one outpost to another that could be attacked specifically for loot. There is a bit of this sort of system already in game with the messenger thing and the guys you see hauling meat but imagine taking that to another level, perhaps every so often a shipment of spears or other weapons or any other in game commodity. Stuff could be lugged around on their backs in woven baskets and so on, you could easily imagine the Izila having this level of resource movement.

For real man, I have written PAGES of ideas for story elements, gameplay mechanics and game systems etc, but never thought of having retaliatory kill-squads. That makes alot of sense to have in the story I'd been brainstorming, but also adds a level of dynamism which in an open world game is always good to have, and a highly trained kill squad showing up when you least expect it is alot more interesting than say defending locals from an animal attack or helping in a small skirmish, though both of those things should remain as well. In general though I do feel like those "karma / wenja events" happened a tad too often in FC4/P (though survivor mode rightly decreased their frequency it seems) Yeah man, that would definitely be sort of a $#!+ your pants moment to crest a ridge & see 9 guys armed to the teeth looking for you, or to have them get the drop on you even... eeesh...
