Hard Copy Installation, no internet, first time Uplay --- Failed!

Just moved to a new property, broadband service is going to take another 2-3 weeks to be connected.

So obviously can't buy the game online and download.

Bought 1 from amazon, arrived today! SUPER EXCITED

And finally found out that the game CANNOT be installed without Uplay.
And Uplay CANNOTbe logged in as offline if never logged in online
(which doesnt make sense to me at all, if i could log in once online, why would i log in offline?)

What is the point of buying a hard copy and cannot install without internet connection?
What about those players that have no internet access at all?

I have no idea what these game maker thinking…

And i cannot find a word to express how pissed off and how disappointed I am right now!!!

Games these days have become so complicated even just to install to play

The reason is simple - copyright protection - otherwise the iso of the game discs could just be used and the game be easily pirated - that is why you have to activate it once online with the correct key. This binds the game to your account and the same game key cannot reused on another account. This is the main reason, but there are others like data mining - the more Ubisoft knows about our playing behavior, the more they can tweak future games to be more appealing, among other things, which might not necessarily be in our interest, but helps the company to run their business.

The offline feature is for cases, where the servers from Ubisoft aren't accessible - like this morning for a while - one can still play the game then in offline mode, but some features might be missing during the offline session - like Ubisoft Club rewards and such.

You cannot say that game installation is more comoplicated than in the past. If all works out well, you just download the game - either steam or Uplay - those clients install and update the game and when you start them for the first time, the initialization and activation is done and you can play the game. The game will eventually by updated automatically if new patches arrive. It is absolutely no hassle at all, IF ALL WORKS AS IT SHOULD - what it not always does and then there is a problem of course. But in all the time where I am using steam, I had never a problem with it and with Uplay a couple of times within the last 3 months, it is less reliable than the steam services as far as I can tell from my experience with both so far.
