    PvP hacking

    Hi,

Are there any hints to how I can prevent being hacked or better defend while I'm hacked? The so called "complete tutorial" is not very helpful. ("Press Y to create profiles of the people around you, until you find the hacker" The heck it does! I can't even control who to profile, as the diamond is jumping around on its own will.)

When I accept the mission to hack another player, the game forces me to stay within reach of the purple circle, but when I am hacked, it doesn't seem that the same rules are valid for the player who hacks me. The last two or three times, I got hacked I didn't even see a person around to hack me, and leaving the purple circle doesn't help at all to lure the hacker toward my position (to see if anyone is following me) does not stop the hacking. My data still gets stolen...

Is it possible to hack a person via cameras, and that's the reason why I can't see the person that hacks me? Are there special "hacks" to buy in later stages of the game to help keeping invisible for the defender in that game, and the attacker is just later in the game and has these hacks?

Also is there a way to avoid being hacked while I'm on my way to accept a story mission, or just want to play a bit and tag the landmarks?

First off, there's no way to prevent yourself being hacked. Once it starts, you'll see a purple circle on the map - the hacker is somewhere inside that circle. Use Z (on the PC) to profile people - eventually you may find the hacker. Always look on top of buildings and look for vehicles out of position - they may have been used to climb onto a higher ledge. The hacker can't leave that circle, so as it shrinks it should make the task a bit easier.

When you want to hack someone, you have to get within about 40m to start hacking, then you have 60 second to put as much distance between you and them and find a good place to hide.

    Hi Andy,

I know I did not make myself clear (blame it to the fact that I'm German and therefore NOT a native English speaker), I didn't want to completely opt out of online activities or use some "magic" when the hacking starts. When I entered this question to this board I just couldn't imagine where the hacker was even after I was hacked. I don't know if it is due to a system upgrade, a character upgrade or wether I was just to blind to notice it, but now the game shows at the end where the hacker was. And guess what? Many times the purple outline of the hacker is OUTSIDE the circle shown as last area to look at (most inside the second last circle, but ifthe game reduces the area the hacker should not be able to hide outside that last circle!!! ), sometimes it shows a person I should definitely have seen, but didn't see when I was where the player is. So either there are cheaters which manage to become completely invisible (or can cheat my profiler) OR I have to learn how to better control the profiler to snap to different person, if that is the problem, and so I wanted to ask for some tricks or hints how to better look for the hacker (apart from the obvious, that no NPC will ever drive his car to the pedestian lane, so that must be the hacker). Also (but I guess that would be very unfair to the gamers being hacked) it could be that some advanced skills allow such a way of becoming complete invisible, and that I just haven't reached a stage to know that this skill even exists, and that would mean that it's normal that I run around like mad but can't find the hacker invading my game.

The topic I asked about avoiding being hacked is that I often can't even get from A to B to start a mission because my game gets invaded by a hacker. I often was even kicked out of minigames like privacy invading or the thimblerigger. I wanted to ask if there is some switch like "the next 30 minutes please let me play the game without interruptions", which can only be used once day or anything like that, but I guess there isn't. Today I was hacked twice within 15 minutes, and both time by the same hacker. You can guess that I am pissed off when this happens while I try to e.g. unlock a ctOS tower, have to defend myself from this hacker, follow him to kill him and either way, after coming back to the tower my game is invaded again.
