So let's talk about RNGESUS, Crafting and Division Tech

I preface this with Optimism. I enjoy the game, but believe the end result is broken currently and needs to be addressed. Opinions are Opinions, we can agree to disagree.

Since I hit level 30 - all I've wanted to do is get to DZ Rank 50 and buy all of the Shiny Patterns in the DZ to craft some great loots. I noticed I was getting exponentially more DZ creds than in the beta, and figured I'd have plenty to buy the yellow patterns by the time I got to max level. So I bought some patterns off of the vendor in the base with Phoenix Creds, snuck into the upper level DZ06 church and checked out some of those things and started my grind to 50. I got to around Rank 48 and had nearly 300K DZ funds and anticipation was setting in, but then I noticed some things.

All of the items in the DZ creds brackets are ILVL 30 and additionally require you to spend chunks of yellow division tech to craft them.

So let me get this straight, some of the best gear in the game is in the dark zone.. caveat - on a vendor, that requires you to grind a rank 50, obtain a large number of phoenix creds, and hope you've been fortunate enough to get to Division Tech chests before others or gotten lucky on drops.

All of the patterns for DZ50/ILVL30 are worthless. They require you to spend more or less 3 Division tech to pray to RNGESUS and most likely get garbage that doesn't fit your build.

These are terrible design flaws. So I basically go to the Dark Zone to grind for crafting materials, to make garbage, to break it down and go back again. Sprinkle in that Some of the Best loot in the game can be found in the Dark zone, on a vendor, for purchase, after you get rank 50 and have phoenix creds, but you may not even be able to make the gear because you probably won't have Division Tech to min/max your crafting and rerolling can only be done in limited supply because of the ridiculous credit cost once you re roll something more than once.

So basically, you're promoting people to do everything they can to find these glitches with missions and shortcuts for farms, because of the gates you've put in place to try and slow people down from having fun.

This isn't fun. This reminds me of the hell anyone who played Diablo 3 pre ROS went through trying to make a UBER ring or even get a solid set.

When things aren't fun people quit playing games. I'm not quite there yet, and i'm hopeful that they will do something about the crafting requirements and reroll - lets be honest, people are going to find a way to get around most of your gates and roadblocks to progress if they have nothing better to do, but the casual player who wants value for their time - would rather go do anything than this.

I've gotten 1 HE drop in the dark zone that I've used since I hit 30 the Sunday after release. A Midas - and that just happened this weekend. The majority of my time has been spent doing Hard Dailies and in the DZ. i've done two challenge modes. I prefer to play with my friends over Pugging for Challenge mode runs and what would I really do with a surplus of Phoenix Credits? I just hit DZ Rank 50 this weekend and bought a Holster Pattern from the church and crafted 3 before I found one that was acceptable, now I have a whopping 10 gold division tech left.

If the developer of Everquest Next had enough respect for gamers to say this isn't a fun game and cancelled it's development, why can't you look and say - this isn't a fun design and fix this poor excuse for end game?

This is based on Diablo 3 when it comes to loot system and itemization
Even colors for loot drops except purple are same. Set items will be green ect and im sure in future they may even bring legendary with orange color.
Overall its not about coping loot and gearing based on other games, it is all about how and what exactly game developer brings into own game. Currently They took Diablo itemization when it was pre RoS expansion. To sum it up it was one of the worst loot and character gearing system i have ever seen in online games.
After RoS it got much better where player had more control but still not good. Recently Blizzard did another big change to Diablo 3 itemization and giving more control what player can reroll and how they can upgrade already looted gear.

This game however does it backwards and unless you are happy to grind and hope for RNGJesus there is nothing you can do. Having thousands of crafting materials does not guarantee you item or stats you may want for your build.
This is a main issue and i see more and more people start to realize.

I crafted like 20 Vector SMGs and only got crap ... at some point later I only wanted to craft another one to send it to my twink so he could sell it ... and BOOM ... MAX DMG + Brutal + Deadly + Fierce + 25.5% crit chance ! ... After this I thought I could have a lucky run ... continued to craft knee pads ... 40 times ... only crap.

Oh i've made tons of vectors. Still haven't gotten even close to a double talent or trifecta but at least they just cost crafting materials and don't require Division Tech. That's one of the big issues. Something that is ILVL 30, not 31 - that you have to grind 50 levels to get, requires a rare crafting material and it's probably not even better than something you found that is ILVL 31 purple.

    +1

I agree with OP 100%. Once you're at end game all it becomes is a box opening simulator looking for gold DT. Why waste time doing mission that could give you a HE( that is going to complete trash) than farm mats and craft hundreds of items? All the good gear I have is from crafting which sucks. I want to find decent items from bosses or killing stuff but it don't happen in this game. I have gotten 9 HE weapon drops from DZ and guess what? All trash because they have crap rolls that are not better than the 100 mp5 that I have made. I still have not got a great roll on a mp5 yet and I make 5-10 per day. I've made well over 100 mp5/vectors and they are all garbage. I like the game a lot but they need to fix this terrible loot system.

I've spent hours in the DZ before and only gotten 3-4 high-end division tech, and that's with me hitting up the boxes I know very few people will come across, 2-3. the ones in the construction site, the bank and the office are always gone.

what they need to do is make it so that items obtained from the DZ will drop division tech when deconstructed and we so that we can craft division tech, like other mats. otherwise, it's just miserable.

also,I've had 32 bosses drop green D tech for me several times. And from what I've seen they don't drop better gear and they aren't more likely to drop high-ends and they drop the same amount of phoenix credits. So there is no reason to venture into the harder zones.

why would I risk losing rank, credits and keys to fight shadow and 80 LMB when Bonnie has the same chance of dropping a midas.

I'm not saying tool down the RNG on the lower bosses to "ballance" it out either Ubisoft, don't be trolls.

The real problem is RNG isnt as random as they would want you to believe I think.

Glad to see this is a more apparent problem. I've not seen many if any threads on this and I checked the first 4 pages before making this post. Mods can we get this discussion to the devs? This needs to be fixed to sustain the game longer term.
