How long is Winter going to last in The Division?

I've been wondering about this. Is it now permanently winter? Or will there be spring, summer, etc? I'm thinking maybe Ubi will just keep it winter but it sure would be nice to have multiple seasons!

Changing the seasons in the game will seriously affect the game world and story mode at the same time. Think what will happen with all the bodies when things will start to heat up, decomposing, fermenting, incubating a host of new diseases etc that will rapidly spread among the survivors. The stench of rot and decay will wash over the city even more than it is now.

    Also...where are all the cats?

Where is the militia? Everybody is armed except the citizens.

    Hello !

I guess the cleaners have at least one real utility : burn the bodies...
    Because when spring comes... Yerk.

And the Militia, let's say the Rioters have a good thing to do with them ;-)

You better hope that winter is permanent.

Nobody wants all those body bags to get .... ripe ...

pretty sure it is going to stay winter. while the game has a day/night cycle, i'm pretty sure the actual storyline is playing out over at best a week or so. it's mid January when the game story starts, so there are still months to go of winter. so you might see Spring rolling around 5-6 sequels down the road.

plus the winter conditions (snow, ice, needing to wear jackets, etc) are a big part of the visual feel of the game. getting rid of that would likely make the game less interesting visually.

in america militias are a bit weird. the legal stuff about them is a bit schtizo, in that some laws treat militia's as illegal except for the United states national guard, and other treat literally any armed persona as "militia". usually it depends on what the laws is trying to accomplish.

the end result is that while anyone can own weaponry, the only ones with access to military grade weapons are the national guard and a handful of people with the right licensing. Newyork has some of the stricter laws about gun ownership too, due to the high crime rate it has. so basically, you don't have many recognized militia's in the sense of "organized civilians with guns", you just have 'people with guns" and "part time members of the military." (though in other parts of the country there are groups recognized as 'militia' in the classical sense.. groups like the Texas Rangers for example)

the JTF is comprised of the Police, the national guard, other city agencies, and volunteers.. so they represent the 'militia' in the sense your thinking of. which actually explains a lot about why they suck so much. most of the ones you meet aren't trained soldiers, they're dogcatchers and firemen and other people who have firearms training but no real military tactics or strategy training. though they have national guard, bounty hunters, and the like mixed in too certainly, which might explain why sometimes they actually do fair better in a fight.

most of the time in America, when the term 'militia' comes up, its a negative thing, referring to groups of ideologues that have armed themselves to do things against society or the government. like the KKK, the Skinheads, Ted Bundy's group, etc. racists, people with extreme political or social views, and so on that have organized and armed themselves to use force to achieve their goals. the term militia is used here because this is what those people refer to themselves as, trying to wrap themselves in the image of being a legal and patriotic entity, when really they tend to be the opposite.

in the game, this kind of militia IS what the Rioters, the Rikers, the Cleaners, and the rest represent. even the LMB and Rogue Agents would fall into this category, though they are less typical cases.

New York City has the worst gun laws when it comes to legal civilian ownership. Rifles and handguns require two types of permits: one to simply purchase them and another to own them. Concealed carry permits are only provided to active duty and retired cops, bodyguards, and, sadly, celebrities. New York state permits aren't even fully recognized. They allow you to have gun when traveling through the city but you can't stop anywhere and the gun must be unloaded the entire time.

Good question OP, one i wondered and still wonder.

The environment should simply transition to a different chapter as a choice in your game/character menu. The Summer DLC SHOULD change the season forward where, after you've removed the major threats, all the bodies have been burned/removed and you've got a dirty dusty hot city and some undetermined threat. I'm just wondering how many of these bad guys could exist considering how rough the virus was apparently. Besides this, having a game that never transitions out of season would be literally ******ed (ret@rded is an actual English word btw).

Will Massive bother to do this? Or will they skimp on everything now that they've got our money and disappear taking no ownership/responsibility for providing a deep/rich story environment marketed with Tom Clancy's name. There is nothing holding Massive back from this, and it would make their game epic, i'd even forget about the glitches if i cared about the characters/story (like I do with Mass Effect)

Worst? well for the guncrazed merican maybe. For me as a europe tourist this sounds pretty safe...seriously the horrible laws against weaps are my main point why i will NEVER visit the US. My heart really bleeds because i miss some great stuff but no thank you i dont want to walk through a city where nearly everyone could draw a gun and shot me down because REASONS....
